Bonding Showcase Project
Choose one of the following products to demonstrate that you have evaluated and synthesized the information you have learned about chemical bonding. This project is due the day of the unit test. The story must be typed.
Project Options (pick one):
a. Story/Poem/Rap – Choose one type of bonding and write “A Day in the Life of an Atom” story describing what it’s like to be an atom that forms your chosen bond type. The story should incorporate all properties from your “Come Together” chart (types of atoms, method of bond formation, type of structure, physical state, melting point, solubility in water, and electrical conductivity). The story must be creative, and not simply a narrative of the properties! If you make a video, you may work with one other person.
b. Comic Strip – Compare atoms that form different bond types: non-polar covalent, polar covalent, and ionic bonds. The comic should illustrate how the bonds are formed and at least one characteristic property for each bond type (type of structure, physical state, solubility in water). The comic must be creative!
