About MaHIMA

The Massachusetts Health Information Management Association is committed to excellence in the management of health information. Our mission is to promote professional growth, competence and life-long learning, to influence governmental, educational, social and business issues which affect the management and use of health information, to contribute to the quality and efficiency of health information systems and structures, and to promote synergy and alignment among disciplines which manage and support health information. The Association’s Board is comprised of at least 13 members, including up to two students.

MaHIMAFoundation Board of Directors Position Description andRequirements

The student member of the MaHIMA Board of Directors will play a key role in the Board’s activities throughout the year. The student Board member will assistMaHIMA by serving as a Student Ambassador. The purpose of the Student Ambassador is to communicateMaHIMA’s mission and programs to RHIA, RHIT and other Health Information Management related program’s students.

The MaHIMA Board meets four times per year (Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall) for a half-day meeting. Additional conference calls will be held throughout the year. In addition, Board members are encouraged to attend the activities of the Foundation at the Annual Meeting in the spring (typically May or June) and other MaHIMA meetings as offered. The Board has several committees on which the student representative will be appointed to serve and participate via conference call throughout the year. Term of service for this position is one year, commencing in July. You must be a current AHIMA student member to apply for this position.
