Summary Overview of Meeting

Reserving seats in courses for students who are going into Spring.

Taking Spring schedules, create reservation seat schedule for each school. Advisors have courses that fit for the student’s schedule, but aren’t built yet.

Requesting sections to be built by department ADs.

“Horse trading” will be done today, among advisors who are leading creating ideal blocks.

Time block actuals on spreadsheet, are the times blocks per PeopleSoft.

Concern about resulting cohorting students as a result of block scheduling.

Advisors to Revise block student numbers after censes date.

A&H: Can move seats over to Actual.

BSBA: Done.

NSME: Mostly done, and will be done shortly.

Biology and Math courses needed to be built. Harper will email McBride to request for sections on behalf of Block Scheduling. McBride said that would be the best mode.

Harper will work with Gubkin-Malicdem on email requesting wish list of courses from ADs, and copy the leads.

Cohorting is not necessarily a part of Block Scheduling.

After they get feedback from ADs, then they can update actuals, and Liora will work on making the reservations, then reserving students in the Block.

Another Advisors meeting will be scheduled after the “actual” column is filled.

Conflict would be that there are more students than sections, and Advisors work together to negotiate seats for each School’s students.

This demonstrates the need for more courses, which is anticipated and can be planned for.

Wish list courses on the spreadsheet are highlighted in yellow, which will be an ask for ADs to build courses if necessary.

ADs will get back to Vernon that courses were built.

Another conflict will be getting classrooms to accommodate the large courses.

Dirkse does checks that courses are added.

An assessment will be done for fall with more data on the BS students for the 1st year pilot.
