Biography – Helen Carpenter-Waters
Helens background is in Gymnastics and professional Dance for which she has many TV, film, video and theatre credits. She has represented Great Britain in Sports Aerobics and was 4 times undefeated UK Mixed Pairs Champion with several international medals including a Bronze at the World Games held in Finland.
Helens holistic approach has been facilitated by a long career (25 years) during which time she has been involved in many developments in the fitness industry. Helen has written and delivered many courses and manuals in addition to writing articles and acting as guest editor for professional publications. For 14 years Helen was course director and lecturer at Farnborough College of Technology (where she met Belinda and Claire).
Helen has extensive qualifications and training in the field of exercise education, in addition to being a Master Practitioner in NLP, Ericksonian Hypnotherapist and Advanced Lifecoach. Helen is the founder and director of the UK Fitness Academy ( where she is very much ‘hands on’ within the company, teaching all types of group exercise in addition to her one to one work which includes Personal Training, Sports Conditioning, Injury Rehabilitation and Back Care, NLP, Hypnosis and Life Coaching. Helens clients range form 79 year olds to teenagers, club to world class athletes, celebrities, housewives, stressed business men and ante/post natal ladies. She has trained many hundreds of pregnant ladies and new mums over the years, helping them to keep in shape during pregnancy, prepare for labour and return to pre-natal fitness levels.
Helen first experienced Pilates as a professional dancer at Pineapple Dance Studios in London. Their paths crossed again when Pilates was embraced by the fitness industry. Following undertaking the level 2 and 3 training with Pilates Training Solutions, Helen is thrilled to have been invited to join the team.
Helen believes Pilates is an essential tool in her repertoire of exercise methods especially when working in the areas of rehabilitation, seniors and ante/post natal exercise.
Her reputation has resulted in invitations to present and educate at conventions and events across that UK and worldwide – she has been described by convention organisersas “an industry icon” and her outstanding work within the fitness industry was recognized by Fitness Professionals across the UK when she was voted “UK Fitness Leader of the Year”.
