“A versatile comic performer who pushes the boundaries of social interaction and comic possibility around the world.”

Sharon Mahoney was born in Oakville, Ontario. She began her performance career at the tender age of 10, playing her first drag role as the King in "Alice in Wonderland”. She studied violin and ballet and as the youngest of four siblings she soon learned innovative and entertaining ways to gain attention.
From 1991 to 1992, Sharon studied Improvisational Acting at the Second City, Toronto for two years followed by an Honors B.A. in Theatre Arts and Psychology at Bishop's University, Lennoxville, Quebec. During her time at Bishop's, she performed various roles in the main stage productions such as; Fabian from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, The Hysteric from The Passion and Nora from George F Walker's Escape from Happiness.
In 1997, Sharon moved out West and cut her professional teeth with an improv group called "Spilt Milk" in Victoria followed by her successful debut as a stand up comic in Vancouver’s comedy clubs.
In the winter of 1998, Sharon found kindred spirits in a group of boys with serious behavioral problems. For eight months, Sharon tutored the ten to thirteen year old boys in Theatre and Improvisational games, which resulted in huge improvements in the group's confidence and communication skills. Sharon continued this work as a volunteer instructor and performer in theatre and circus skills at "Canuck House" a hospice for children with life threatening illnesses.
On Canada Day 1999 Sharon performed her first ever solo street show, and hasn't looked back since. As the only female street performer on pitch in Vancouver, Sharon was determined to create a more theatrical show than the stock juggling-hype-show. Having developed a burlesque clown during a "Mump and Smoot" clown workshop, Sharon created "Miss Tallulah" and the Ladder of Men. She later complimented this show with another character, the passive-aggressive "Sharon from Canada".
Sharon has performed her solo character-based show for street, stage, cabaret and festivals all over the world including; Adelaide Fringe Festival (AUS), Edmonton Street Performers Festival (CAN), Edinburgh Fringe (UK) Fremantle Busker Festival (AUS), Hobart Taste of Tasmania (AUS), World Busker's Festival (NZ), Glastonbury Festival (UK), Oerol Terschellings Festival (NL), Villach Pflasterspektakel (AU), Feldkirch Pflastspektakel (Austria), Coff's Harbour Buskers Festival (AU), Tasmanian Circus Festival (AU), Koblenz Gaulker Festival (DE), Winchester Hat Fair (UK) and the Singapore River Busker's Festival (RSN).
In 2001, Sharon became one of the very few women to win the Marcus Marconi Press Prize at the Rotterdam International Street Theatre Festival (NL).
In 2003, Sharon co-starred and co-wrote Quanta Costa, an all-female sketch comedy show in Perth Australia. In 2005, Sharon returned to Vancouver and reconnected with the stand-up circuit in Vancouver. In 2006, she entered the Laff Riot Girls’ Funniest New Female Stand Up in British Columbia Contest and placed in the top three of over 50 woman.
Miss Mahoney continues to fulfill a busy performance schedule at festivals and comedy clubs around the world and pushes the boundaries of social interaction and comic possibility wherever she goes.
