21. Beige Dress with Collar
2 mm needles / 4 ply yarn (2 colours)
Cast on 22 sts in Brown.
Change to Beige and work in st st beginning with a Purl row.
Continue in st st until work measures 6 cm.
Rows 1, 3: K5, P1, K1, P1, K6, P1, K1, P1, K5.
Rows 2, 4: Knit all knit sts and Purl all Purl sts.
Row 5: K3, K2 tog, P1, K1, P1, K6, P1, K2, P1, K2 tog, K3. (20 sts)
Row 6: Knit all knit sts and Purl all Purl sts.
Row 7: K4, P1, K1, P1, K6, P1, K1, P1, K4.
Row 8: Knit all knit sts and Purl all Purl sts.
Repeat these 2 rows four more times.
Work 4 rows st st.
Cast on 25 sts for sleeves (20 Beige & 5 Brown) at beginning of next 2 rows.
The 5 edge sts for sleeve are worked in garter st in Brown throughout.
Continue until sleeve measures 3 cm.
Work 26 sts, put next 18 sts of collar on a needle, cast on 18 sts, work the remaining 26 sts.
Continue to work across all 70 sts until sleeve measures 6½ cm.
Cast off 25 sts at beginning of next 2 rows..
Work 4 rows st st.
Row 1: K4, P1, K1, P1, K6, P1, K1, P1, K4.
Row 2: Knit all knit sts and Purl all Purl sts.
Repeat these 2 rows four more times.
Row 11: K3, M1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K6, P1, K1, P1, K1, M1, K3. (20 sts)
Row 12: Knit all knit sts and Purl all Purl sts.
Row 13: K5, P1, K1, P1, K6, P1, K1, P1, K5.
Row 14: Knit all knit sts and Purl all Purl sts.
Repeat these 2 rows once more.
Continue in st st until work measures 5½ cm.
Change to Beige and work 1 row Purl from WS.
Cast off.
Collar:
Dress’s RS becomes collar’s WS.
With RS facing, take the 18 sts from needle at neck and work st st, beginning with a Purl row. When collar measures 2½ cm, work 1 row Rib from WS and cast off.
Pick up 20 sts from the other part of neck and work in st st for 2 ½ cm.
Finish with one row Rib from WS.
Cast off.
Sew up side of collar and sew up back seam.
