BECOMING A COACH/MANAGER ON TENNISLINK

  • You must register on TennisLink to become a Jr. Team Tennis Coach or Manager. If you have a USTA number, you may use it. If you do not have a number, you can submit your personal information and TennisLink will give you a USTA Team Coach/Manager ID#.
  • Go to
  • Go to bottom of page under Options, click on Become a Coach or Manager
  • If you have a USTA number, enter the number and all your info will appear.
  • If you do not have a USTA number, fill in the info and you will be assigned a number.
  • Keep this number and your password in a safe place as you will need these numbers in the future to access score entry, player and team information and to print scorecards.

Background Check and Online Safety Course:

Step 1:

  • Background Check Procedure:
  • Go to and submit the background check consent approval form
  • Once the consent form has been received by USTA SC, a link to the background check site will be sent via email. Watch for this email to complete the process.
  • Proceed to the site and follow the steps outlined to complete the background check process. This is a secure site provided by LexisNexis/VolunteerSelectPlus. The actual process should only take a few minutes.

Step 2:

The Virtual Risk Management Classroom is brought to you by USTA Southern. This site offers 24/7 training on two subjects: Principles of Youth Protection and Tennis Program Safety. The youth protection course is required for USTA Jr. Team Tennis coaches, captains and co-captains. It features interim quizzes as you move through the course. When you successfully complete the course a Certificate of Completion will be generated for your use. To begin, go to

Steps to complete the USTA Southern JTT Safety Training

  1. Go to
  2. Click “Register” in the top right-hand corner
  3. Enter your personal information in the registration form, selecting “South Carolina” and your appropriate JTT program from the drop-down lists.
  4. After clicking “Submit”, the site will immediately take you to a page requesting your email address and password to enter.
  5. After entering your email address and password, it will take you to the USTA Southern Virtual Risk Management Classroom welcome page. At the bottom of the welcome page, under “Current Course Offerings” see “Principles of Youth Protection and Tennis Program Safety” and click the green link “Begin Now.”
  6. You will be taken directly into the 38-step course. An indicator bar in the upper left-hand corner shows your progress. Your login name is displayed in the lower left-hand corner. To advance to the next page, click “Next” in the bottom right-hand corner.
  7. On following pages, you can click “Take a Break” to pause & save your progress in the course; “Previous” to return to a previous page; “Next” to advance to the next page; and “Review” to bring up a separate window with previous course information while you are on a quiz page; and “Submit” to submit a selected answer on a quiz page.
  8. If you answer incorrectly on a quiz page, you will receive another try until your submit the correct answer.
  9. On the final page, click “Complete” to view or print your Certificate of Completion for this course.
