Shooting Fundamentals
  1. Use BEEF principal (balance, eyes, elbow & follow-through)
  2. Square shoulders
  3. Flick of the wrist (bend wrist back as far as possible)
  4. Elbow in L. position
  5. Release high (look like a swan at completion)
  6. Lock out elbow of shooting arm
  7. Ball leaves index and middle finger last (fingertip control)
  8. Follow-through at 60 degrees
  9. Develop rhythm (legs, through, in)
  10. Emphasize legs and wrist (not arm)
  11. Do not rotate or lock out balancing hand

Shooting Form Drills
  1. Wrist flicking
  2. Arms overhead
  3. Palms facing forward
  4. Flick wrist so ball goes approximately one foot straight up
  5. Catch ball on fingertips
  6. Repeat
  7. Wrist flick with legs
  8. Same as above
  9. Use legs
  10. Flick all three to six feet
  11. Avoid using arms
  12. One hand shooting form drill
  13. Stand two to three feet from basket
  14. Square shoulders
  15. Practice fundamentals without balance hand
  16. Shooting form with balance hand
  17. Stand two to three feet from basket
  18. Practice fundamentals
  19. Do not rotate balance hand (thumbs up)
  20. Do not lock out balance hand
  21. Use legs

  19. Shooter gets own rebound and passes to line that passed him the ball

Foul Shots
  1. Deep breath
  2. Follow shooting fundamentals
  3. Line ball (not head) with middle of rim
  4. Beef
  5. Normal speed (using rhythm technique)
  6. Establish routine

Foul Shooting Drills
  1. Shoot and Sprint
  2. Shoot foul 2 shots
  3. Sprint to other foul line and shoot again
  4. Shoot and Box out
  5. Players lineup like normal foul shot
  6. Two shots and rotate to left
  7. Knockout
  8. Foul Shot Golf
  9. Swish is a birdie
  10. Made shot is par
  11. Missed shot is a bogie

Dribbling Drills
  1. Full Court
  2. Speed dribble
  3. Crossover
  4. Between the legs
  5. Behind the back
  6. Reverse

  12. Two players in confined area
  13. Fouling allowed at first
  14. Offense player protects with off hand

Two Ball drill
  • Player dribbles 2 balls simultaneously
  • Advanced version includes machine gun alternating dribble
  • Advanced drill also includes cross over and through the legs

Passing Drills
  1. 2 Line Diagonal
  2. 2 lines diagonally opposite to one another
  3. Pass is made to next person in opposite line
  4. Player making pass goes to back of opposite line
  5. Use all passes- 2 hand chest, bounce and baseball

Pivoting Drills
  1. Bug Stamping Drill
  2. Player pivots in circle stamping out bugs
  3. Use each foot as pivot foot
  4. Pivot on ball of foot
  5. Pivoting with ball
  6. Elbows out
  7. Fingers on ball
  8. Move ball high and low
  9. Create space
  10. Pivoting with Head & Ball Fake
  11. Dribble short distance
  12. Stop and Pivot 4x with head & ball fake
  13. Repeat
  14. Pivoting with defense
  15. Defense attempts to get ball without fouling
  16. Offense creates space moving ball high and low left and right
  17. Variation includes two defensive players
  18. Pivot into triple threat

Defensive drills
  1. Shell with help
  2. Zigzag
  3. Bump off in lane
  4. Defense prevents offense from entering lane area by stepping in front and blocking

Transition drills
  1. Three on two- two on one
  2. Fast break one player touches foul line

Layup and Drive Drills
  1. One step layup
  2. Player begins with inside ft. forward halfway up the key
  3. One and one-half steps and elevate for shot
  4. Elbow X Drill
  5. Player alternates one dribble drive from elbow left and right
  6. Phase 2 includes square up with defender
  7. Continue until whistle blown
  8. Layup with roaming defenders
  9. Defenders attempt to knock ball out of players hands

Trapping
  1. Two on one trapping
  2. Done in groups of three
  3. Two defensive players prevent offensive player from Dribbling forward
  4. Outside feet of defensive players outside of offensive player
  5. Defense keeps offense in same relative position
  6. After being trapped offense pivots away high and low making space
  7. Trapping Game
  8. Two defensive players stand at top of key
  9. Rest of team on baseline with number
  10. As number called out, offensive player trapped
  11. Call another number as soon as trap occurs

Presses
  1. 22 Trap
  2. Allow pass in
  3. Trap dribbler near sideline
  4. Next two players stalk for ball at outlet spots
  5. Make coaches dribble into trap
  6. 32 Trap
  7. Attack ball once in bounded
  8. Deny pass back to in bounder
  9. 4 and 5 stop pass to outlets

Rebounding
  1. Grab Ball and pivot
  2. Grab ball with fingertips and pivot
  3. No teasing
  4. Predicting Rebounds
  5. Players watch shot and call out rebounding spot
  6. Move to Rebound
  7. Player moves to where he predicts rebound will go
  8. No fighting for ball
  9. Shoulder to Shoulder Box out
  10. Start in ready position
  11. State in contact with opponent
  12. Step in front of opponent and box
  13. Defensive position box out
  14. Spread elbows
  15. Try to keep opponent between elbows
  16. Half down position with butt out
