BASIS Chandler Boosters General Meeting

Call to order By President Roger Parks 6:35 pm

Introduction of the Booster’s Executive Board

President Roger Parks, Vice President- Regina Fischer, Treasurer- Heather, Secretary JoAnne Curry, Member –at large/Fundraiser Committee Leader- Michele Weber, Member at large/ School Spirit Committee leader -Waley K, Member-at Large /Web and social Media Master- Deidre Zapata.

Purpose and Mission of the Boosters Club was discussed in relation to supporting the needs of our children, teachers and school. Roger also discussed guest Speakers at the Boosters General Meetings. Tonight Headmaster Stephanie Terrell was suppose to be present but could not attend. However, questions and concerns from the Parents will be taken back to Ms. Terrell by Roger. Ms. Terrell will be invited back to be a guest speaker.

II. Financials (high level-end balance last year, what we spent so far, revenues so far)

III. Fundraising Opportunities- We have numerous opportunities to give back to the school. The more Parents, family and friends utilize these simple programs the more money BASIS Chandler can receive to continue to support your child’s Top Notch education here at BASIS Chandler.

a. School Cents- Parents are urged to shop at Chandler Fashion Center and surrounding stores within the Parking lot bounties PLUS it INCLUDES the Chandler Movies, However, it does not include Target, Nordstrom’s Rack, Pier One area stores. We are proud to be one of thirty schools to participate in this GREAT program!!How this program works is when you purchase items please take your receipts to Chandler mall Customer Service and those purchases will be logged in to give BASIS Chandler points. OR you can also turn in the receipts in the envelope and put them in the Booster Box at the school. January is double and triple points REGARDLESS of when the purchase was made.

b. Swirl it and Jamba Juice- Jamba Juice will be every other Wednesday cost $3 and the next one is August 28th. Swirl it is every Friday for $3.

c. Box tops located on cereals, baggies etc.- Boosters will be doing this fundraiser. We will receive 10 cents for everyone received.

d. Dinner Night Out- Keep an eye out for this Boosters Dining out in September. October will be at Chili’s ( Germann /Gilbert) EVERY Monday during the week of October

e. Soup labels and Tyson A+ Program- Campbell’s Soup Labels for Education and Tyson A+ will be a new program for Boosters this year. Turn in all labels to BASIS front office- Leslie is accepting them.

f. Target Red Card or Debit card can be linked to BASIS Chandler. Of 5% you get off the school gets up to 1% back

g. eScripts/Safeway- 5 Prescriptions another 5% off.

h. Fry’s card- This card will be linked up with UPC. The school is in the process of getting registered for All of these wonderful programs so please be patient.

I. Costco Event on Gilbert and Baseline Saturday Oct 26, 2013. How does this event work- for every supply that you purchase the school gets a ream of paper. We will be sending out more details closer to the event.

IV. Lunch program- First you must update your existing account or register at orderlunches.com. Each child must have an account. We have new vendors plus returning vendors with more food selection. Lunches are only a small fundraiser for us. We will keep serving the same days as previous years. We only have approx 100 kids order lunches a day. We would love to see more kids order per day. Volunteers to help serve lunch is needed!!! Your feedback is always welcomed.

V. Stephanie Terrell- She will be rescheduled to September 23, 2013

a. Discuss school updates - This will be discussed when Stephanie Terrell speaks to the Group

b. ATF- The school will start to give info earlier to the parents about the Annual Teachers fund. The ATF will help off-set expenses for the funds that we do not get from the state and to help fund teacher bonus, Parents PLEASE check with your employer to see if your company Matches dollar for dollar ie, Intel and Bank of America to name a few. PLANT Blue Group is a group of Intel Parents for Intel employees to help with Matching funds

c. BBQ Party in November-All school Picnic will be held at Tumbleweed Park. November 16th. The Boosters will help but this is a school sponsored event. More info will follow from the school and Boosters will be asking for volunteers

VI. Membership Drive- A Pizza Party Membership drive that will take place between the grades and elements. A pizza party at Sal’s Restaurant will be awarded to the grade/element that has the most members. Benefits of being a Booster Member were discussed.

a. Membership update- We have over 125 current members our goal is 300 families. We had an earlier launch this year and a presence at Orientation and meet the teacher night.

b. Update on payment methods- Boosters now has the ability to accept via credit cards, checks and cash. Boosters has purchased a mini iPad to help facilitate the ease of payments. All of our store items will be downloaded also on the tablet.

VIII. New website/social media- This site has a new look . This is a great source for information to locate minutes of the meetings, lunch info, upcoming events, fundraising activities and Plus if you have a business you can Advertise on the web site or in the directory, Personal congrats to seniors or extracurricular groups more. We have a link on our website for the Gently Used Book exchange. Go to our Facebook page “Basis Chandler Boosters Book Exchange” to get connected to BASIS Parents to buy and or sell gently Used text books.

IX. School spirit Store- Boosters are pre-selling specific t-shirts. Orders for new designed tee shirts were pre-ordered and we are also selling BASIS logo car magnets and the BASIS element shirts.
