Ballylanders Newsletter Week Ending 25thMarch

Anniversaries:

Seamus Hanley, Carraturk.

Ballylanders Easter Ceremonies:

HolyThursday:8pm. This is the Mass remembering the first Mass Jesus said, the day he ordained His first priests and led by example by washing His disciples feet.

GoodFriday:

3pm - Stations of the Cross. 8pm - The main Ceremony with the reading of the long gospel, the kissing of the Cross and receiving Holy Communion. It’s the day we are horrified as we reflect how much the totally innocent Jesus suffered for each of us.

HolySaturday -8pm:

This ceremony is in four parts. It starts with the lighting of the Easter fire in the outdoors, then each person lights their own candle, it’s a way of sayingGod’s life and light lives in me. Part two: we take time out to listen to the story of God saving His people from slavery in Egypt. The good news is that God still reaches out and saves us. The third part is the blessing of Easter water; this is to remind us of our sharing in God’s life through baptism. The fourth and final part is the celebration of Mass and receiving the Risen Jesus in Holy Communion.
