Rules and Regulations

Section 1: Age Divisions/Tees – Male and Female

MALE FEMALE

White Tees(*) 16– 18 / 18 holes

White Tees 13 – 15 / 18 holes

Red Tees 10 – 12 / 9 holes 14 – 18 / 18 holes

Red Tees 14 – 18 / 9 holes

Red Tees 11 – 13 / 9 holes

Jr/Forward Tees 9 – UNDER / 9 holes 10 – UNDER / 9 holes

A female may play in a male division however she must play from the same tees as the males.

A player may choose to play in a “higher” division however they must play from the tees of that age division.

Once a player moves to a “higher” division they cannot move back down. Points accrued in onedivision will not be credited in another division.

(*) Males in the 16 – 18 division must play from the blue tees during major, two day tournamentsif the course being played allows.

Section 2: Caddies and Physical Helpers

9 – Under male/10 – Under female are allowed one (1) full caddie per player. A caddie is defined as someone who assists the player to include but not limited to carrying the player’s bag, pushes the player’s pushcart, advises the player in such a way that it influences the player’s stroke. At no time can the caddie act in such a way as to disturb the resting ball.

10 – 12 male/11 – 13 femaleare allowed physical helpers only. A physical helper is defined as someone who ONLY carries the player’s bag or pushes their pushcart. At no time may a physical helper give advice to a player. Any infraction of this rule will result in a two (2) stroke penalty.

13 – 18 male/14 – 18 femaleare NOT allowed caddies or physical helpers at any time during tournament play. A player may NOT request or receive any kind of instruction/advice from any outside source, unless it has to do with a question about a rule decision and only then by a tournament rules official. Any infraction of this rule will result in a two (2) stroke penalty.

Section 3: Powered Carts and Push Carts

All players MUST WALK. A player is not allowed to use or sit in a powered cart during tournament play unless deemed necessary by a tournament official.

Spectators may use a powered cart to watch/follow a player but MUST stay on the cart path. If there is no defined cart path then the powered cart MUST stay along the side of the fairway and are NOT ALLOWED within 30 yards of any green. Spectators are responsible for any fees associated with their use of a powered cart.

Use of pushcarts is allowed in all divisions. Players renting a pushcart is responsible for any fees associated with their use of a pushcart.

Section 4: Pace of Play

15 minutes maximum for entire group per hole

2 hours maximum to play 9 holes

4 hours maximum to play 18 holes

2 minutes maximum allowed locating a lost ball

Players will have 60 seconds to hit their shot

If an individual player/group falls behind they will be placed on the clock. A warning will be issued. If not rectified a two (2) stoke penalty will be assessed.

Section 5: Spectators

Spectators are allowed and encouraged. All spectatorsMUST stay on the cart path. If there is no defined cart path then spectators MUST stay along the side of the fairway and are not allowed within 30 yards of any green. At no time may a spectator influence a player’s decision.

Section 6: Behavior

  1. Only one (1) golfer is allowed on the tee box at a time. No push carts or golf bags are allowed on the tee box.
  1. Golfers waiting to tee off or that has completed their tee shot are to remain motionless, silent, andMUST stay out of the line of sight of the golfer teeing off.
  1. Golfers waiting to make or have completed strokes on the green are to remain motionless, silent and MUST stay out of the line of sight of the golfer taking their stroke.
  2. Inappropriate language (cussing) or behavior (throwing/pounding of clubs) is not tolerated at any time.
  1. All golf balls must be marked prior to tournament play to clearly identify the player they belong to.

1st infraction of any of the aforementioned rule(s) will result in a two (2) stroke penalty. The 2nd infraction will result in disqualification from the tournament. 3rd infraction results in the offending player being suspended for the remaining year. A suspended player MUST get written approval of the Board to return the following year.

Cheating of any kind will not be tolerated. 1st infraction of this rule will result in immediate disqualification. 2nd infraction will result in suspension for the remaining year. A suspended playerMUST get written approval of the Board to return the following year.

Replace all divots, repair all ball marks and rake bunkers. Do no harm to the golf course on which you are playing.

Section 7: Scoring

All scorecards MUST be verified and signed in the scoring area. Once a scorecard is signed and the player leaves the scoring area the score will be final. Any error in a score that is higher than what the player actually scored will result in the player taking the higher score. Any error in a score that is lower than they actually scored will result in a disqualification. If a player leaves the scoring area before their scorecard is verified and signed the score will not be counted and the player will be disqualified.

Parents can/will keep score for divisions male 9 and under and female 10 and under.

All other division scores will be kept by players within that division. The tournament rules officials may provide score markers in the event that a player is playing alone.

For divisions Male 9 and under, Male 10 – 12, Female 10 and under and Female 11 – 13 there is a 10 stroke maximum on each hole.

All other divisions must count each stroke until ball is holed.

In case of ties for Place(s):

Major tournaments – Playoff – hole to be determined by course

One day tournaments – card off – last hole played (9 or 18) and back

Section 8: Other

All (spectators and players) cell phones must be in silent mode during tournament play. Allowable use of cell phones by playersis to contact tournament rules official or in case of emergency.

All players within a group should be watching all the tee shots for landing location.

Player of the Year will be determined by the junior golfer having the most points earned during tournament play in each division. Double points for 2 – day major tournaments based on combined scores. No points for Match Play, Skills Competition, Two Man Scramble, Pro/Jr or Adult/Jr.

First Place 10 pts

Second Place 7 pts

Third Place 4 pts

Show 1 pt

USGA RULES GOVERN ALL PLAY UNLESS AN EXCEPTION IS MADE AND WILL BE DEFINED IN THE AJGA RULES AND REGULATIONS AND MADE PUBLIC PRIOR TO THE TOURNAMENT START.
