DPW INVITATIONS TO SUBMIT A/E LETTERS OF INTEREST
The state Department of Public Works has been authorized to retain consultants/firms to work on the contracts/projects described below.
Submissions due August 27, 2003:
ARCHITECT AND CONSULTANT DESIGN TEAM: Contract Number: BI-CTC-407. Renovation of the former Sears Building for Housatonic Community College, 900 Lafayette Boulevard, Bridgeport. The project will consist of renovations to 149,000 gross square feet of space in the former Sears Building, and new additions totaling 39,000 gross square feet, adjacent to the existing Housatonic Community College and its multi-level parking facility. The renovation will also include reconfiguration of the Performing Arts Center within the existing building. The new facility will house a central lobby, bookstore, cafeteria, and large conference and lecture rooms. It will also include state-of-the-art classroom space for the Behavioral Sciences Department, general use and computer classrooms, and space for other support services such as department faculty offices and student life, in accordance with the master plan for the college. The current estimated construction costs are $35 million.
CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION FIRM / TEAM: Contract Number: BI-CTC-407-CA. Required consultant services during the renovation design and construction of the former Sears Building for Housatonic Community College, 900 Lafayette Boulevard, Bridgeport, described above.
CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION FIRM / TEAM: Contract Number: BI-DF-034-CA. Required consultant services during the renovation design and construction of Gallaudet Hall at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford.
ARCHITECT AND CONSULTANT DESIGN TEAM: Contract Number: BI-Q-616. Renovations, alterations and additions to the Southington Readiness Center (Armory), Southington. This major upgrade to the existing armory and 10-acre state-owned site will be constructed in order to house a new unit being assigned to the Connecticut Army National Guard, a Smoke/Decon chemical company consisting of 136 troops. The modifications to the facility will accommodate the unit’s space needs for increased personnel, administrative offices, storage, classrooms, locker rooms, a dining facility, parking, and maintenance space. Work will include significant interior renovations, reconfiguration of the HVAC, power and lighting systems, upgrading or replacing most mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, brick and concrete additions, fencing and access roads. Current estimated construction costs are $3.8 million.
