STOW,OH,August17, 2015 — Wildomar was a town in the late 19th century, when settlers were still homesteading in what would become Riverside County, a suburb of Los Angeles that also encompasses Palm Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Rancho Mirage and Desert Hot Springs. But it was only seven years ago that Wildomar incorporated. This year, the city undertook an upgrade of their city council building, outfitting the chambers with a new desktop microphone system that helps position them as a state-of-the-art civic destination. The new system had to be user-friendly, expandable and dependable. All of those criteria were met when systems integrator Gates Sound selected and installed a system consisting of components from Audio-Technica, a leading manufacturer of wired and wireless microphones, headphones and accessory products for over 50 years.

The system comprises 14 Audio-Technica U857QLCardioid Condenser Quick-Mount Gooseneck Microphones, each attached to an A-T ATND8677Microphone Desk Stand with Dante™ Network Output. This combination offers uncompromising sound quality and excellent speech intelligibility with the ease of network connectivity enabled by Dante technology. In addition to the podium microphones, Gates Sound also installed an Audio-Technica System 10 PRO Rack-Mount Digital Wireless System with wireless handheld microphone. This system allows presenters to move about the chambers unencumbered while doing presentations for the city council, as well as enhancing the value of the chambers — which can be sectioned off with a partition into two separate spaces, each with its own audio system —as a rentable space.

“The Audio-Technica Dante-enabled microphone bases made this a very straightforward installation project,” explains Doug Gates, Gates Sound’s Founder and Owner. “The audio equipment for the city council is located in a closet down the hall, and utilizing the ATND8677 bases, all of the city council bases could be connected to a local PoE network switch under the dais and run back to the equipment closet on a single category cable. A Symetrix Radius12×8 DSP is able to accept the Dante audio streams from the ATND8677s over one network connection. The Symetrix processes the audio as well as the ATND8677’s built-in LEDs and user switches.” And the sound quality? “It’s exceptional, both for the city council microphones and for the wireless microphone system,” he says. “Every word is perfectly clear. That plus how easily and seamlessly the Audio-Technica products can be integrated onto a network make them the obvious choice for projects like this.”
