CLAIR’S WORK HISTORY

My Doctor told me that jogging could add years to my life. He was right, I feel 10 years older already

Rosalind McDonald PHF
It is with a great deal of sadness that we record the passing of Rosalind who has been a great supporter of Rotary both as a Rotaryanne and regular attendee of many of the Rotary Club events. Ros was recognised with a Paul Harris Fellow in 2009 for her service to the club and the wider community She will be a friend sadly missed.
We as a Club extend to Ross and family our deepest sympathy

Guest Speakers

RYLA Awardees Gina Liu and Alex Barnard

Our two awardees spoke with confidence about their time at the RYLA camp. How they both arrived as two very uncertain people not knowing what really to expect. They were alongside of some thirty eight other awardees thatall had similar feelings of apprehension. Within 24 hours the feelings had changed to one of not only what can I learn about leadership but what can I learn about myself and the others.

They were thrown into uncomfortable conditions where conflict resolutions had to be fixed not fought about. They followed the tenet of “How to make friends and influence people”. Time and effort was spent in problem solving in groupsituations which is not easy if one has preconceived ideas about a problem.

They were taught how to start a conversation by asking small questions aimed at drawing a person into conversation without causing embarrassment and concern. They were told they had four seconds tomake a positiveimpression.

Both Gina and Liu both came away from thecourseknowing that they both have become better communicators and positioned themselves to become future leaders. Well done to the RYLA camp leaders and to our two awardees.
