Medication Dispensing


Job Action Sheet: POD Division Supervisor

PPE: The POD Division Supervisor in consultation with the Safety Officer in the HSCC determines the appropriate PPE for all staff

Mission: Ensure POD flow by providing leadership to team members and assuring duties carried out in a timely and safe manner

Initial Actions on Arrival

Report to the Command Center/Staging Area

  1. If opening up the POD, designate a Command Post. Consider a separate conference room, large office

  1. If opening up the POD, ensure that POD is ready. Walk the entire POD.

  1. Operate as the Planning Officer. Rapidly evaluate the situation and develop a plan to manage the POD for the next shift period. Use ICS forms as necessary.

Ongoing Tasks
  1. Receive Task Force Leaders and Command Staff as they report for duty

  1. Stick to the ICS system to limit the span of control.

  1. Routinely facilitate POD leadership meetings. Schedule a Task Force Leader and Unit Manager briefing at the beginning and end of each shift. Schedule ad hoc leadership meetings as necessary to keep everyone well informed. Continue to provide oversight and direction to team members

  1. Participate in briefings scheduled with the HSCC and/or the EOC. Provide good communication to those in the Command Centers.

  1. Ensure team members complete tasks as per job action sheet and just in time training. Troubleshoot problems and issues as they arise.

  1. Ensure positive staff and volunteer morale.

  1. Operate as the Financial Officer for the POD.

  1. Receive internal incident information sheet from HSCC Planning Section Chief every 4 to 6 hours. Share with all responders ASAP.
  2. Serve as PIC liaison for the POD: coordinate with JIC, serve as POC for media or refer media to JIC, check with Logistics that all public information materials are at POD.

  1. Perform a visual check of individuals to assess for illness that is suggestive of infection due to the implicated agent

  1. Direct asymptomatic individuals to the POD to receive prophylaxis

  1. If indicated, distribute surgical masks to symptomatic individuals and direct them to an appropriate medical treatment facility

  1. Refer individuals in need of basic first aid to the First Aid Station in POD

  1. Call 911 and render emergency care as appropriate for acute medical conditions
