Greetings to all – Hope that the trial season and holiday season was great for you and your family! Here’s the latest ARC news …

Club Meeting/Holiday Party February 15, 2004 – Please mark you calendars and join us! Details follow in the newsletter, and this year the club will host the party at a restaurant. We will also discuss plans for the upcoming spring hunt test and field trial, so please plan to attend.

Hunt Test Judge’s/Handler’s Seminar – Our club is hosting an AKC Judge and Handler’s seminar on February 14, 2004, 8AM to 5 PM. The instructors will be Jerry Mann & Chuck Kimbrel, and with their experience, this should prove to be a very educational seminar. Contact: Tim Summers for details: 770-254-1497, or via email

Mark Your Calendars – Our spring hunt test date is March 20 – 21 and our field trial date is April 23 – 25.

Annual Club Membership Now Due – ARC’s annual membership dues run from January through December, and are now up for renewal. Attached is the dues notice; please send your dues to Jean O’Connor at the address listed on the form. Also, please be sure to indicate your email address on the form … we’d like to start saving trees by sending the newsletter via email!

Fall Hunt Test results – Our hunt test held in November was a success, and many thanks to all club members who pitched in to make the tests run smoothly. Welcome to our newest (and youngest) ARC member – Our newest ARC member is Sarah Grace Bowyer. At this writing, she is two days old! Her parents, Brad & Sonya Bowyer, welcomed Sarah Grace into the world on February 2, 2004. Everyone is fine, although sleep is scarce. Congrats, Brad & Sonya!

HOLIDAY PARTY and

Club Meeting

The Atlanta Retriever Club will host its annual holiday party on Sunday, February 15, 2004. This year, the club will host an early dinner at Logan’s Road House in Alpharetta. This event is always fun – we hope you can join us! Plus, the club is buying your dinner!

Also, the club trophies will be given out at this event. If you want to be considered for the Greenwing Derby trophy, the John Minchew, DVM Amateur trophy, the Starrsville trophy, or Rowdy’s Rocket Master Hunter trophy, please turn in your points to Jane Sutter by February 12, 2004. The criteria for the awards are as follows.

Greenwing Highpoint Derby Dog – awarded to the ARC member whose dog accumulated the most points in licensed derbies for the year 2003.

Rowdy’s Rocket Master Hunter Award – presented to the ARC member whose dog earned the accumulated the most master qualifying scores in 2003. This award is presented in memory of a wonderful dog owned by Carolyn & Brian McCreesh.

John Minchew Memorial trophy – in memory of our friend & member John Minchew, who trained and campaigned his own dogs. This award is given to the ARC member whose dog earned the highest number of amateur points accumulated in the trials held in the former Southeastern Retriever Council.

Starrsville Trophy - awarded to the member whose dog earned the highest all-age point total for 2003. This includes open and amateur points accumulated in US field trials, and includes points earned with a professional handler.
