Job Specification

·  Variable shift pattern – covering 7 days a week, including evenings, working an average of 40 hours per week on an annualised hours contract. Hours to be worked will be scheduled by the Catering Manager.

·  Working at our Cambridge Centre which is situated in Foxton.

Responsible to

The Catering Manager, Villiers Park Educational Trust, Foxton, Cambridge.

Specific Responsibilities include

·  Catering for breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and evening meal for course participants, staff and any guests at the times scheduled.

·  In the absence of the Catering Manager, liaising with other staff members regarding menus for the courses.

·  Maintaining, along with the catering assistants, a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including food storage in store rooms, fridges and freezers.

·  Ensuring that stock is rotated on a first in/first out basis.

·  Responsible for maintaining records of temperature readings of all fridges, freezers, and hot and cold cabinets.

·  Ensuring that all necessary linen (tea towels, dishcloths, tablecloths etc.) are laundered.

·  Assist the Catering Manager with ordering all stock and overseeing the checking in of deliveries.

·  Deputise in the absence of the Catering Manager.

·  Assist the Catering Manager when developing staff rotas and with other administrative tasks e.g. processing invoices, time sheets.

Personal Specification

·  Wide range of cooking skills, from starters to main courses to desserts, using fresh ingredients where appropriate and creating dishes in-house.

·  Enthusiastic, motivated, well-organised and efficient.

·  Flexible, able to work under pressure, use their own initiative.

·  Able to manage their time effectively and prioritise.

·  Good communication skills in order to supervise other catering staff and liaise with suppliers and other staff on site.

·  Knowledge of current environmental health and health and safety legislation.

·  Catering Qualification – minimum of Level 2 Food Safety/Hygiene and some supervisory experience in a catering environment. NVQ Level 3 or a desire to attain such a qualification would be an advantage.

·  Personal licence holder – desirable or training will be given.

·  Salary £18,774 - £19,817 p.a. depending on experience

·  Working hours 1822 p.a.

·  Contributory group personal pension scheme is available
