Assignment: DA#1 - Personal Application.

Provide your thoughts about the fundamental strategic issues facing the industry in which your organization exists (DEll - Computer Technology Industry)

  • Compare the performance of your company (Dell) against the industry within which it operates, for 1 year through 5 years using the Morningstar database( if you are in a publically listed company or use a similar publicly listed company (hp ) or some other performance measure if you are not. (For example, hp and Gateway, lenovo, etc) Morningstar Database Industry Return on Investment. Please cover the followingquestions in your response.
  1. Do some industries have better evolution of the stock value than others? You can compare them using Search for your organization or a similar one (hp) ; use the"interactive chart" "Comparison" and compare its evolution for the longest possible period to the main stock indicators, ( Dow, NASDAQ, S&P500 ) and competitive firms.
  2. Do some industries have inherently better probability growth and market value than others? To analyze this, rely on the Morningstar Database, Compare for your firm (Dell or hp) the key ratios of Profitability, Growth and Valuation / Market to Book value.
  3. Is your organization performing well against the others in the industry?.
  4. What factors explain the differences in company performance in the same industry?
