Greetings RJR Families,

As the first quarter of the 2014-2015 school year winds down, our RJR

campus is buzzing with activity. We’ve heard great reviews of last

week’s fall drama, “Anne Frank”, and look forward to next week’s fall

band concert on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.

Demon athletes continue to work hard as they represent our school

with determination and outstanding sportsmanship! Last Wednesday evening, we celebrated the induction of students into the National Honor Society, and congratulate these students for their achievement!

Many thanks go out to PTSA volunteer Jennifer Weldon for coordinating the recent practice SAT and follow-up SAT score review session which will take place on November 5th at 7:00 p.m. This is an important exercise in helping our students feel better prepared should they need to submit test scores to the colleges/universities to which they apply.

Working on a college campus, it is hard to miss the buzz of early college acceptances and preparation for next steps. For those of you with juniors and seniors, we can relate to the mixed emotions of joy, anticipation and a little anxiety as you make plans with your students to prepare for their lives after high school. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our Student Services staff and volunteers for their hard work each day to ensure that our students have the resources they need to successfully navigate the college admissions process should that be part of their post-high school plan. If you have not done so, please take time to review the Student Services (Guidance) page within the RJR website ( There you will find a PDF of Nicole Beale’s senior parent meeting loaded with information on the ins and outs of the college admissions process, dates for college visits, resume samples, a step-by-step timeline for the senior year, scholarship information, and many other resources.

Good luck to our athletes competing in post-season competitions, and to all of our students as they strive to reach their goals in the classroom at the end of the first quarter! We are so proud of the hard work demonstrated by our students, faculty, staff and volunteers! What a great time to be a member of the RJR community!

Warmest regards,

Kate and Alan Ruley

PTSA President and 2nd VP
