Hello Carson 4th and 5th Graders and Parents!

My name is Nathan Burt and I teach 3rd Grade HGT at Carson. This semester I will be offering an Advanced Film Club enrichment from 4:00p.m.-6:00 p.m. on Mondays after school for fourth and fifth grade students. Students do not need to have taken the first Film Club enrichment to take part in this enrichment! In this enrichment, students will extend their knowledge of genre and film studies. Students will be viewing films from six different genres and with each genre will be viewing films from early cinema (1930’s, 40’s or 50’s) and then modern-day examples of films for the same genre. The enrichment will look at comparing different elements from each film to see how genres have evolved over time and how do genre tropes help us better understand films. Below is the list of films we will be watching in our Advanced Film Club enrichment:

January 8th: - Genre: Fantasy – “The Wizard of Oz” (G) (1939)

January 15th – No School: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
