Artistic Component

You have three options to choose from for your artistic representation of the novel:

*** Write your full name and class period on your project

Option One- Collage/Drawing

Using words, colored pictures, materials, knick-knacks, etc. create a collage illustration that describes the plot, conflicts, characters, setting(s), and themes of your novel. You must include two quotes or sentences from the book that you feel are important to the overall understanding of the story or exemplify a central idea or theme of the story. Make sure to include the title of your book and the author’s name on the poster. Your job as a collage designer is to creatively show what your book is all about!

Option Two- Movie Poster

Design a poster that advertises your book like the kind you see in movie theaters. Be creative with your advertisement. Use colored pencils and markers to decorate your movie poster. Draw pictures that tell something about the novel. You must include a fictional positive review (a quote from a fictional reporter from a newspaper or magazine) that encourages people to go and read it. You must also include one direct quote or sentence from the book that you feel is important to the overall understanding of the story. Make sure to include the title of your book and the author’s name on your poster. Your job as a movie poster designer is to make people want to go out and buy the book.

Option Three- Diorama/ 3D Representation

Design a scenic, symbolic, and thoughtful representation of your novel in which sculptured figurines, objects, and lifelike details are displayed. Choose and create scenes that are focused on key settings, moments, conflicts, characters, symbols, and themes in the novel. You must include two quotes or sentences from the book that you feel are important to the overall understanding of the story or exemplify a central idea or theme of the story. Make sure to include the title of your book and the author’s name on the diorama. Your job as a diorama designer is to make your audience feel as if they are part of the story and can place themselves into the scenes that you have created.
