Article l - Name, Purpose, and Non-Discrimination Policy of the Organization.

Section 1: RAPpreciation club at The Ohio State University

Section 2: Our purpose as a whole is to explore the genre of rap in its entirety. We will take individual artists, albums, and even songs and break them down together. We will analyze how all of these subjects have influenced rap as a genre. We hope to educate our members on all the different types of rap from its creation in the late 1800's to it's current state now.

Section 3: This organization and its members shall not discriminate against any individual(s) for reasons of age, color, disability, gender identity or expression, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status.

Article II - Membership: Qualifications and categories of membership

Section 1: Open membership, but voting members must be enrolled at Ohio State University

Article III - Organization Leadership: Titles, terms of office, type of selection, and duties of the leaders

Section 1:

  • Title: President
  • Terms of office: re-elected every year
  • Type of selection: Voted in by majority
  • Duties: facilitate all club meetings
  • Title: Secondary Leader
  • Terms of office: re-elected every year
  • Types of selection: voted in by majority
  • Duties: co- facilitate all meetings
  • Title: Treasurer
  • Terms of office: re-elected every year
  • Type of selection: voted in by majority
  • Duties: handle financial issues with club
  • Title: Advisor:
  • Terms of office: until cannot do it anymore
  • Types of selection: whoever is best qualified
  • Duties: sign off on all changes to club
  • Title: Secretary
  • Terms of office: re-elected every year
  • Types of selection: appointed by president
  • Duties: notify members of meetings

Article VI – Method of Selecting and/or Removing Officers and Members.

Section 1: Removing an officer will be left up the majority. The secondary leader will call a vote. There will be a vote, and if the majority wants an impeachment there will be an impeachment.

Article VII – Advisor(s) or Advisory Board: Qualification Criteria.

Section 1: An advisor will be expected to sign off on all changes online to the club, and take the advisor class that is required to be an advisor

Article VIII – Meetings of the Organization: Required meetings and their frequency.

Section 1: two general meeting per semester are required for active members.

Article IX – Method of Amending Constitution: Proposals, notice, and voting requirements

proposed amendments should be in writing, should not be acted upon but read in the general meeting in which they are proposed, should be read again at a specified number of subsequent general meetings and the general meeting in which the votes will be taken, and require a two-third general vote.

Article X – Method of Dissolution of Organization

The dissolution of this organization will happen if there is not president, treasurer, or advisor. If any debts exist they are the responsibility of the president and the treasurer.

By Laws

Article 1 –

“The rules contained in [ shall govern the organization in all cases to which they are applicable, and in which they are not inconsistent with the by-laws of this organization.

Article II-

No dues, termination of membership if person doesn’t attend 2 meetings a term. No other specific requirements.

Article III- The government leadership will be elected by the old upper management by majority vote. Nomination is based on self-nomination. Ballots will be designed the same as government ballots, including the name of the nominees and check boxes. They will be counted by the co-president. Anybody is eligible to run for office as long as they are a member of the club. The elections will take place before the first meeting of the year in the fall. If the president gets impeached or resigns the vice president will take over. If the treasurer resigns, or is impeached the co advisor will take his/her position.

Article VI - Adviser/Advisory Board Responsibilities Expectations of the adviser in the organization (e.g., availability, meeting attendance, second signer on checks, etc.)

Article VII - Meeting Requirements Regular, special, size and determination of quorum

5 members are required to vote on issues. There are no meeting requirements.

Article VIII- Method of Amending By-Laws
