ARTICLE I - NAME OF ORGANIZATION -
THE NAME OF THIS ORGANIZATION SHALL BE KNOWN AS THE CHANNELVIEW CHANNELETTES.
ARTICLE II - PURPOSE OF ORGANIZATION -
THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE CHANNELETTES IS TO RENDER SERVICE TO THE SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY THROUGH FORMATION AND PARTICIPATION IN A PERFORMING DANCE ORGANIZATION. IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE, THE ORGANIZATION SHALL:
A. FOSTER GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP
B. ENCOURAGE GROUP PARTICIPATION
C. DEVELOP SELF-DISCIPLINE
D. ENHANCE INDIVIDUAL TALENT
E. PROMOTE GOOD WILL AMONG OTHER CAMPUS ORGANIZATIONS
ARTICLE III - CHAIN OF COMMAND -
THIS DOCUMENT SHALL ESTABLISH THE BASIC GUIDELINES FOR THE CHANNELETTES. THE ORGANIZATION SHALL CONSIST OF:
A. DIRECTOR
B. OFFICERS
C. LINE MEMBERS
D. MANAGERS
E. ESCORTS
ARTICLE IV - POWER AND AUTHORITY -
ALL CHANNELETTES SHALL FOLLOW THE CHAIN OF COMMAND. THE DIRECTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE TO THE PRINCIPAL FOR THIS ORGANIZATION. THEREFORE, IT IS EXPRESSLY UNDERSTOOD THAT ALL STUDENT POWERS HEREIN SET FORTH ARE DELEGATED BY THE DIRECTOR AND MAY BE REVOKED AT ANY TIME.
ARTICLE V - MEMBERSHIP -
A. ELIGIBILITY - ANY STUDENT WHO HAS SERVED AS A RESERVE CHANNELETTE FOR ONE FULL SEMESTER OR A DANCE STUDENT FOR THE DIRECTOR FOR ONE FULL YEAR AND CAN BE RECOMMENDED BY THE DIRECTOR.
EXCEPTIONS INCLUDE:
*ANY STUDENT WHO HAS TRANSFERRED INTO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AFTER THE FALL RESERVE TRYOUTS OR ANY STUDENT WHO WILL BE A SENIOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR. THESE STUDENTS MUST BE IN GOOD STANDING AS DETERMINED BY THE DIRECTOR.
* A MEMBER WHO HAS RESIGNED THEIR POSITION AS A CHANNELETTE DURING THE CHANNELETTE YEAR WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TRYOUT AND MAY NOT BE RECOMMENDED BY THE DIRECTOR.
*A MEMBER WHO HAS BEEN DISMISSED TWICE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TRYOUT AND MAY NOT BE RECOMMENDED BY THE DIRECTOR.
* A MEMBER WHO HAS BEEN DISMISSED OR HAS RESIGNED THEIR POSITION AS A CHANNELETTE DURING THE CHANNELETTE YEAR WILL NOT BE ENTITLED TO ATTEND ANY CHANNELETTE FUNCTION FROM THE MOMENT OF DISMISSAL OR RESIGNATION.
B. AUDITIONS-
1. AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD TWICE A YEAR IN LATE FALL & LATE SPRING.
2. EACH CANDIDATE MUST PERFORM THE SPECIFIC ROUTINES TAUGHT PRIOR TO AUDITIONS.
3. CANDIDATES WILL BE EVALUATED BY A PANEL OF QUALIFIED JUDGES ON THE BASIS OF:
A. GENERAL APPEARANCE
B. HIGH KICKS/SPLITS
C. SHOWMANSHIP
D. JAZZ DANCE ABILITY
E. MEMORY
4. CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE AN
APPLICATION AND TURN IN BY DESIGNATED DATE. (PER-
MISSIONFORM, REPORT CARD, ETC...)
C. RESPONSIBILITIES OF MEMBERS - THEY
1. MUST ATTEND SUMMER CAMP DURING THE DATES SET BY THE DIRECTOR.
2. MUST ATTEND PRE-SCHOOL WORKOUTS IN AUGUST.
3. MUST ATTEND ALL CHANNELETTE FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCES WITH OTHER ACTIVITIES AND JOBS WORKED AROUND THEM.
4. MUST RAISE THE SET AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR TRIPS, BANQUETS, DANCES, ETC..., OR THE MEMBER MUST PAY THE BALANCE OR NOT ATTEND THE FUNCTION.
5.MUST MEET “SCREENING” STANDARD PRIOR TO EACH PUBLIC APPEARANCE AS DETERMINED BY THE DIRECTOR, FOR PERFORMANCE PRIVILEGES.
ARTICLE VI - OFFICERS -
A.ELIGIBILITY OF FIELD OFFICER CANDIDATES – THE CANDIDATE...
1.MUST HAVE BEEN IN CHANNELETTES THE FULL YEAR PRIOR TO AUDITIONS.
2. MUST SUBMIT LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION FROM HER CURRENT FACULTY MEMBERSAT CHANNELVIEWHIGH SCHOOL.
3. MUST BE GIVEN A LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION BY THE DIRECTOR.
4.MUST BE A SENIOR TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION OF MAJOR, UNLESS THERE ARE NO SENIOR CANDIDATES.
5. MUST BE EITHER A JUNIOR OR A SENIOR.
B. AUDITIONS FOR FIELD OFFICER -
1. AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD ONCE A YEAR IN THE SPRING.
2. DANCE ABILITY WILL BE EVALUATED BY A PANEL OF QUALIFIED JUDGES ON:
A. GROUP ROUTINES
B. FIELD STRUT DANCE
C. SOLO DANCE
3. LEADERSHIP ABILITY WILL BE EVALUATED BY A PANEL OF QUALIFIED JUDGES ON:

B. RECOMMENDATIONS FROM FACULTY MEMBERS, AND DIRECTOR.
C.A LEADERSHIP EVALUATION BY ELECTED CHANNELETTES

4. THE TOTAL NUMBER OF FIELD OFFICERS SHALL BE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DIRECTOR AS DETERMINED BY THE JUDGES’ SCORE VARIATIONS.
5. RANK WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE JUDGES’ SCORE AS FOLLOWS:
A. MAJOR - HIGHEST TOTAL SCORED SENIOR
B. CAPTAIN
6. THE OFFICER CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE 5 PTS ADDED TO THEIR FINAL SCORE FOR PERFORMING ONE OR MORE SOLOS AT ANY CHANNELETTE COMPETITION
C. RESPONSIBILITY OF FIELD OFFICERS - THEY
1. WILL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE TO THE DIRECTOR FOR DISPLAYING A HIGH LEVEL OF LEADERSHIP, PROBLEM SOLVING TECHNIQUES, TIME MANAGEMENT AND HUMAN RELATIONS SKILLS.
2. WILL WORK CLOSELY WITH EACH OTHER, THE TOTAL MEMBERSHIP, AND DIRECTOR.
3. WILL ASSIST THE DIRECTOR IN ORGANIZATIONAL TASKS SUCH AS:
A. ENFORCING THE DEMERIT/MERIT SYSTEM WITHOUT FAVORITISM AND REPORTING THESE PROMPTLY TO THE DIRECTOR.
B. COSTUME DESIGN
C. BEING REPRESENTATIVES AT SCHOOL MEETINGS.
D. LEADING WARM-UP EXERCISES AND STRETCHING TECHNIQUES.
E. CHOREOGRAPHY.
F. TEACHING/JUDGING ROUTINES AND HELPING TO DECIDE WHO PERFORMS.
4. ATTEND ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES AND PERFORMANCES.
5. ACCEPT CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM GRACEFULLY FROM THE DIRECTOR AND OTHER OFFICERS.
6. ACCEPT BUT NOT ABUSE AUTHORITY.
7. ASSERT THEMSELVES AS RESPONSIBLE LEADERS.
8. PROMOTE PRIDE AND LOYALTY WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION
9. DEVOTE TIME AND EFFORT TO ALL CHANNELETTE ACTIVITIES.
10. EXHIBIT TACT AND DIPLOMACY WITH ALL MEMBERS.
11. SERVE AS ROLE MODELS TO OTHER MEMBERS BY PROJECTING GOOD TASTE IN APPEARANCE AND SOCIAL BEHAVIOR.
12. PERFORM TASKS PROMPTLY AND EFFICIENTLY.
13. MAINTAIN GOOD RELATIONS WITH FACULTY MEMBERS AND ADMINISTRATORS.
14. CONTRIBUTE IDEAS AND CHOREOGRAPHY.
15. ATTEND OFFICER CAMP AT OWN EXPENSE.
16. MAY PARTICIPATE IN, BUT NOT HOLD AN OFFICE IN, ANOTHERTEAM SPORT ACTIVITY OR ORGANIZATION AS LONG AS THERE HAS BEEN A WRITTEN AGREEMENT SIGNED BY THE DIRECTOR, THE COACH/SPONSOR, AND THE STUDENT.
17. MAY NOT HOLD A JOB THAT EXTENDS THE SCHOOL DAY.
D.ELIGIBILITY OF SOCIAL OFFICERS - THE CANDIDATE
1. MUST HAVE BEEN IN CHANNELETTES THE FULL YEAR PRIOR TO BE CONSIDERED FOR PRESIDENT OR VICE PRESIDENT.
2. MUST BE A CHANNELETTE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR SECRETARY, TREASURER, OR REPORTER.
E. AUDITIONS FOR SOCIAL OFFICERS -
1. AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD ONCE A YEAR IN THE SPRING.
2. LEADERSHIP ABILITY WILL BE EVALUATED BY THE DIRECTOR/CHANNELETTES/PANEL OF QUALIFIED JUDGES IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:
A. REVIEW OF MERIT/DEMERIT AVERAGE
B. LEADERSHIP EVALUATION BY THE SELECTED CHANNELETTES
C. OFFICER NOTEBOOK/ PROJECT BOARD
D. 2 GIFTS (TEAM/SPIRIT GIRL/CHANNELETTE)

B.GENERAL UNIFORM RULES-
1. WEAR THE COMPLETE UNIFORM AT ALL TIMES UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO DO OTHERWISE. NEVER WEAR ANY PART OF THE UNIFORM SEPARATELY.
2. WEAR ALL UNIFORMS ONLY AS A GROUP- NEVER INDIVIDUALLY.
3. WEAR ALL OF YOUR UNIFORMS WITH PRIDE. THEY SHOW THAT YOU ARE A MEMBER OF THE CHANNELVIEW CHANNELETTES.
4. UNIFORMS MUST BE CLEAN
5. ABSOLUTELY NO NAIL POLISH IS TO BE WORN WHILE PERFORMING.
6. SMILE-MAINTAIN GOOD POSTURE-BE WELL POISED-GOOD MANNERS.

C. FEES-
1. HALF OF THE BALANCE IS DUE AT THE FIRST MEETING OF NEWLY ELECTED CHANNELETTES.
2. REMAINING BALANCE IS ALSO DUE AT THE FIRST MEETING, IN THE FORM OF A POST-DATED CHECK.
3. ACTIVITY FEE WILL BE DUE NOVEMBER 1, FOR OPERATIONAL PURPOSES.
4. COSTUME RENTAL FEE- PER COSTUME- PRICE TBD
5. SUMMER CAMPFEE
D. LOSS OF UNIFORM, EQUIPMENT, OR PROPS -
1. EACH MEMBER ASSUMES 100% LIABILITY FOR RETURNING EACH ARTICLE BELONGING TO THE CHANNELETTES.
2. MISSING ARTICLES MUST BE REPLACED OR EQUIVALENT PAYMENT MADE TO THE DIRECTOR FOR RECORDING PURPOSES.
3. A “HOLD” WILL BE PLACED ON ACADEMIC RECORDS OF ANY CHANNELETTES WHO DOES NOT CONFORM TO THE ABOVE GUIDELINES.
ARTICLE VIII - TRIPS -
A.CHANNELETTES ARE REQUIRED TO TRAVEL AS A GROUP TO
ALL REQUIRED PERFORMANCES AND FUNCTIONS
B.IN SPECIAL CASES, THE DIRECTOR MAY ALLOW A MEMBER TO
RETURN WITH HER PARENTS, PROVIDED THAT THE:
1. DIRECTOR RECEIVES A WRITTEN REQUEST FROM THE PARENT BY DEADLINE.
2. PARENT INFORMS THE DIRECTOR, IN PERSON, PRIOR TO DEPARTING THE ACTIVITY.
3. CHANNELETTE IS NOT ALLOWED TO RETURN WITH ANYONE OTHER THAN HER OWN PARENTS OR GUARDIANS WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE DIRECTOR.
C. BUS GUIDELINES-
1. NO FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED ON BUSES.
2. NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO STAND OR CHANGE SEATS WHILE BUS IS IN MOTION.
3.PROPER BUS ETIQUETTE SHOULD BE OBSERVED AT ALL TIMES.
D. PICK UP-
1. PARENTS SHOULD PICK UP THEIR DAUGHTER IMMEDIATELY UPON RETURN TO THE SCHOOL. THIS IS FOR THE SAFETY OF THE YOUNG LADIES AS WELL AS PROVIDING SECURITY FOR THE DIRECTOR.
2. FOLLOWING ALL GAMES, CHANNELETTES WILL BE DISMISSED AT THE CHANNELETTEBUILDING.
ARTICLE IX - PERFORMANCES -
A. THE DIRECTOR WILL CONDUCT A SCREENING SESSION PRIOR TO EACH PERFORMANCE.
B. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. ANY ABSENCE (EXCUSED OR UNEXCUSED) DURING SCREENING OR A PERFORMANCE WEEK, WILL DISQUALIFY MEMBER FROM THAT PERFORMANCE. DIRECTOR WILL DETERMINE “WEEK”.DURING COMPETITION, A MEMBER WILL BE ELIMINATED IF AN ABSENCE OCCURS ONE WEEK PRIOR TO DEPARTURE.
C. SCREENING SESSION WILL CONSIST OF:
1. GENERAL APPEARANCE
2. HIGH KICKS/SPLITS
3. SHOWMANSHIP
4. JAZZ DANCE ABILITY
5. MEMORY
D.ANY MEMBER WHO DOES NOT MEET THE STANDARD PERFORMANCE IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE ACTIVITY IN FULL UNIFORM AND ASSIST THE DIRECTOR WITH SPECIAL DUTIES.
E. CHANNELETTES MUST BE PRESENT FOR HALF A SCHOOL DAY (4 PERIODS A DAY) ON THE DAY OF A PERFORMANCE OR PRACTICE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE. STUDENTS CHECKING OUT OF SCHOOL DUE TO ILLNESS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RETURN TO SCHOOL FOR PRACTICES, PERFORMANCES, COMPETITION, OR CONTESTS. CHANNELETTES MUST CALL TO INFORM THE DIRECTOR OF DR. APPOINTMENTS AND ILLNESSES.
F. FAILURE TO MEET SCHOLASTIC STANDARDS ON THE FIRST SIX (6) WEEK PROGRESS REPORT WILL RESULT IN SUSPENSION UNTIL THE FIRST NINE (9) WEEKS REPORTING PERIOD. (ACCORDING TO UIL) THIS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED PROBATION BECAUSE THIS IS A (6) WEEK PROGRESS REPORT.
G. THE DIRECTOR HAS THE RIGHT TO “PULL” ANY MEMBER WHO IS NOT FULFILLING HER DANCE OBLIGATIONS FOR ANY ONE PERFORMANCE AFTER BEING WARNED BY THE DIRECTOR.
H. PERFORMANCE SUSPENSION MAY RESULT WHEN:
1. A CHANNELETTE FAILS TO MEET HER FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS, REMAINING SUSPENDED UNTIL MONEY IS PAID.
2. A CHANNELETTE RECEIVES 5 DEMERITS, REMAINING SUSPENDED UNTIL MERITS ARE EARNED TO REDUCE DEMERITS BELOW 5.
ARTICLE X – MANAGERS-
A. SELECTION-
1. MANAGERS WILL BE SELECTED BY THE DIRECTOR.
2. CANDIDATES SHOULD BE STUDENTS IN OVERALL GOOD STANDING WITH CHANNELVIEWHIGH SCHOOL WITH CONSIDERATION GIVEN TO PRIOR SCHOLASTIC ELIGIBILITY.
3. MANAGERS ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE TO THE DIRECTORS AND MAY BE RELIEVED OF THEIR DUTIES IFDEEMED NECESSARY.
B.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MANAGERS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. INVENTORY
2. TRANSPORTATION OF EQUIPMENT
3. OPERATION OF MUSICAL EQUIPMENT
4. TABULATION OF FUND-RAISING MONEY
5. DISTURBANCE/COLLECTION OF UNIFORMS AND PROPS
6. ORGANIZATION OF SOCIAL EVENTS
7. PURCHASING GIFTS/FLOWERS
8. ASSUMING DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
9. MAINTAINING SCRAPBOOK
10. DEVOTING EXTRA TIME AND EFFORT TO THEORGANIZATION WITH OTHER JOBS OR ACTIVITIES OF SECONDARY IMPORTANCE.
ARTICLE XI-AMENDMENT PROCEDURE-
A. THE DIRECTOR SHALL HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO CHANGE THESE GUIDELINES AS DEEMED NECESSARY FOR THE CONDUCTION OF BUSINESS AND IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHANNELETTE.
B. THE PRINCIPAL WILL BE SUBMITTED A COPY AND MUST APPROVE A COPY OF ALL PROPOSED CHANGES.
C. MEMBERS MAY CONTRIBUTE SUGGESTIONS IN WRITING FOR PROPOSED AMENDMENTS OR ADDITIONS TO THE DIRECTOR FOR CONSIDERATION.
D. A COMMITTEE WILL BE FORMED TO CONTRIBUTE SUGGESTIONS AND APPROVE OF PROPOSED CHANGES.
ARTICLE XII – AWARDS-
A. “CHANNELETTE OF THE WEEK” AND “SPIRIT GIRL OF THE WEEK”
1. WILL BE SELECTED BY THE OFFICERS AND DIRECTOR DURING THE WEEK OF FOOTBALL SEASON TO RECOGNIZE OUTSTANDING LINE MEMBERS AND ANNOUNCED DURING HALFTIME.
B. “ROOKIE OF THE YEAR”
1. WILL BE SELECTED BY 50% VOTE OF THE OFFICERS AND 50% VOTE OF THE DIRECTOR.
2. WILL BE PRESENTED TO A FIRST YEAR MEMBER AT THE ANNUAL BANQUET.
C. “SALESMANSHIP”
1. WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE MEMBER WHO HAS RAISED THE MOST MONEY, OVERALL, IN APPROVED FUND RAISING PROJECTS.
2. WILL BE PRESENTED AN AWARD AT ANNUAL BANQUET.
D. “CHANNELETTE OF THE YEAR”
1. WILL BE SELECTED BY 50% VOTE OF THE MEMBERS AND 50% VOTE OF THE DIRECTOR.
2. WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE MOST REPRESENTATIVE
MEMBER IN REGARD TO OVERALL CONDUCT, ATTENDANCE
AND DANCE ABILITY.

G. SCHOLARSHIP
1. ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE TO ANY ELIGIBLE GRADUATING SENIOR WHO WISHES TO APPLY IN WRITING TO THE DIRECTOR.
2. MINIMUM AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP IS $200 TO BE USED FORCOLLEGE / UNIVERSITY EXPENSES.
3. MONEY WILL BE OBTAINED THROUGH APPROVED FUND RAISING PROJECTS.
4. THE MOST QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL BE SELECTEDBY THE DIRECTOR BASED ON PAST SERVICE TO THEIR ORGANIZATION, CONTINUED PARTICIPATION IN COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY DANCE ACTIVITIES, AND FINANCIAL NEED.

1. MUST BE A CHANNELETTE.

I. “MOST MERITS”
1. MEMBER RECEIVING THE MOST MERITS THROUGH OUT THE YEAR.
2. WILL BE PRESENTED AN AWARD AT THE ANNUAL BANQUET.
ARTICLE XIII - DEMERITS/MERITS-
1. GRADES WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE DIRECTOR BASED ON SKILLS AND OVERALL PARTICIPATION.
2. TABULATION OF MERIT/DEMERIT TOTALS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH INDIVIDUAL MEMBER.
3. REVIEW OF MERITS AND DEMERITS WILL BE USED BY THE DIRECTOR IN DETERMINING CHANNELETTE AWARDS, OFFICER CANDIDATE RECOMMENDATIONS, GRADE, AND OVERALL STANDING OF EACH OTHER.
4. QUESTIONS CONCERNING MERITS OR DEMERITS MUST BE
MADE FOLLOWING DISMISSAL ON THE SAME DAY OF ISSUANCE.
A. ABSENCES-
1. THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES MAY BE USED TO INTERPRET DEMERIT/MERIT INFRACTIONS REGARDING ABSENCES:
A.EXCUSED ABSENCES-
1. PERSONAL ILLNESS
2. SICKNESS OR DEATH IN IMMEDIATE FAMILY (MOTHER, FATHER, SISTERS, BROTHERS, GRAND PARENTS)
3. QUARANTINE
4. EXTREME WEATHER OR ROAD CONDITIONS MAKING TRAVEL HAZARDOUS.
5. OTHER EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES JUDGED ACCEPTABLE BY THE DIRECTOR.
B. THE FIELD OFFICER OR THE DIRECTOR MUST DE NOTIFIED IN ADVANCE OF ABSENCE FROM A PRACTICE, ACTIVITY, OR PERFORMANCE. IN CASE OF ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL THE DIRECTOR MUST BE NOTIFIED PRIOR TO CLASS TIME BY LEAVING A MESSAGE ON THE DIRECTOR’S ANSWERING MACHINE OR WITH THE SCHOOL SWITCHBOARD.
C. UNEXCUSED ABSENCE-

D. EXCEPTIONS WILL NOT BE MADE TO UNINFORMED MEMBERS FOLLOWING AN ABSENCE. MEMBER SHOULD CONTACT HER FIELD OFFICER FOR IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS OR INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE RETURNING TO SCHOOL OR PRACTICE AFTER AN ABSENCE HAS OCCURRED.
E. ABSENTEE SLIPS MUST BE TURNED IN PRIOR TO ROLL CALL FOLLOWING AN ABSENCE.
B. DEMERITS -
1. A TOTAL OF TWENTY-FIVE (25) DEMERITS DURING THE SEMESTERWILL RESULT IN DISMISSAL OF A MEMBER. ACCUMULATED MERITS WILLBE CONSIDERED ON A 1 TO 1 RATIO. THE MEMBER MAY WORK OFF 1 DEMERIT WITH 1 MERIT FOR PERFORMING PRIVILEGES ONLY. THIS WILL NOT REDUCE THE TOTAL NUMBER OF DEMERITS FOR DISMISSAL PURPOSES.
2. A TOTAL OF TWENTY-FIVE (25) DEMERITS FOR A SINGLE INFRACTION WILL RESULT IN DISMISSAL OF A MEMBER.
3. A TOTAL OF TEN (10) DEMERITS FOR A SINGLE INFRACTION WILLRESULT IN MEMBER BEING PLACED ON PROBATION. A MEMBER PLACEDON PROBATION TWICE DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR WILL BE DISMISSED.
4. A TOTAL OF FIVE (5) DEMERITS WILL RESULT IN PERFORMANCE SUSPENSION AND WILL REMAIN SUSPENDED UNTIL MERITS ARE EARNED TO REDUCE DEMERITS BELOW 5.
5. THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES MAY BE USED TO INTERPRET RULEINFRACTIONS:
A.THE FOLLOWING INFRACTIONS WILL CONSTITUTE TWENTY-FIVE (25) DEMERITS AND RESULT IN AUTOMATIC DISMISSAL.
1.BEING PLACED ON PROBATION TWICE DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR.
2.RECEIVING A TOTAL OF 8 HOURS OF DETENTION FOR DISCIPLINARY OFFENCES.
3. AN UNEXCUSED ABSENCE TO A PERFORMANCE.
4. EXHIBITING DISTASTEFUL BEHAVIOR AS JUDGED BY THE DIRECTOR.
5. UNAUTHORIZED TRAVEL TO OR FROM AN ACTIVITY.
6. USE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, TOBACCO, OR DRUGS.
7. SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION FROM SCHOOL.
8. STEALING
B. TEN (10) DEMERITS FOR A SINGLE INFRACTION WILL RESULT IN A MEMBER BEING PLACED ON PROBATION. PROBATION IS THREE WEEKS WITHOUT PERFORMING WITH THE CHANNELETTES. THE MEMBER MUST STILL ATTEND PRACTICE, PERFORMANCES, AND PARTICIPATE IN THE FUND RAISERS.
1. FAILURE TO MEET SCHOLASTIC STANDARD FOR PERFORMANCE PRIVILEGES. MEMBER MAY NOT RECEIVE A GRADE OF “F” OR AN“I” (INCOMPLETE) FOR THE FIRST NINE (9) WEEK REPORTING PERIOD. ELIGIBILITY IS REGAINEDIN THREE WEEKS IF PASSING ALL CLASSES.
