Telemedicinein Asia-Pacific Region

November 12-14, 2015

Shanghai, China

Telemedicine has achieved tremendous progress in the past 20 years. It is applied in hospitals, medical schools, and even at home. Utilization of Information and Communication Technology by the general population has been the biggest drivers of telemedicine, and the introduction and popularization of the Internet has further accelerated the pace of telemedicine development.

Unbalanced distribution of medical resources betweencities and remote rural areas is a common problem in the world. Telemedicine will be a good solution for such a problem. But it should be noted that some barriers, such as cost, infrastructure, culture and policy, are still inhibiting the development of telemedicine. Therefore, it is really important for the government officers, physicians and technologists from Asia-Pacific regions to share their experiences on telemedicine, and to discuss on the standards specification and service modalities of telemedicine.

In this connection, APSCO Seventh International Symposium onTelemedicinewill be organized to address this issue with a specific emphasis on identifying the current state of Telemedicine technology development and its applications in the region, and looking forward to the prospect for cooperation among APSCO Member States and other Countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
