Applying for an OSU UK Scholarship Nomination

A completed application consists of the following items:

Completed (typed) and signed OSU UK application form.

The application includes biographical information, two short-answer questions, and a 1,000 word personal statement.

Letters of Recommendation and References

Three letters of recommendation must be submitted. These letters should be from faculty who have taught you in a course or advised your research. Please do not solicit letters from TAs, graduate students, or academic advisors

Contact information for two additional references is requested on the application form. These should be people who could potentially provide you a letter of recommendation if you are nominated by the university.

Resume/List of college activities and honors (2 pages maximum)

Include honors & awards, scholarships, research experience, international study, offices held, athletic participation, extracurricular interests, and substantial activities w/dates of participation.

Transcripts from other institutions attended (copies ok)

Includes community colleges, transfer credits, etc.

A transcript is needed for any grade which appears as a “K” on your advising report.

The Nominating Committee will review application materials and select 8-12 candidates to interview in April. You will be notified of your status in the process via the e-mail address listed in your application. Based on the interviews and application materials, the committee will then select Ohio State University’s nominees for the Rhodes and Marshall scholarships.

IMPORTANT: If you are endorsed by the Nominating Committee as one of OSU’s nominees, you will need to commit to working with the Undergraduate Fellowship Office throughout the summer and early fall. The UFO will assist you in obtaining additional letters of recommendation, crafting the national application materials (available in summer 2015), and preparing for possible district interviews.

Applications must be RECEIVED by the Undergraduate Fellowship Office no later than 9am on Monday, March 21st. They may be sent via email attachment to or delivered in hard copy to 220 W. 12th Ave.
