IMPORTANT NOTES FOR THE COMPLETION OF THIS APPLICATION

CPUT postgraduate bursaries are not guaranteed. Students are therefore strongly encouraged to apply for other sources of funding, such as the National Research Foundation, DAAD and the Medical Research Council scholarships and bursaries.

Employees of CPUT are not eligible for a CPUT postgraduate bursary if they qualify for a fee rebate (via Human Resources).

Full time registered applicants are allowed to work for up to 12 hours a week. Applicants employed for more than 12 hours a week are considered Part time and are eligible only for the Part time bursary.

Payment of bursary will be made once off. However, if bursars do not submit HDC 1.2 within 6 months of registration, CPGS will debit the student account in the 7th month to recover half of the bursary (currently being paid in the second semester). If HDC 1.8 is approved within 2 years a refund will be effected.

The Cape Peninsula University of Technology will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against applicants who willfully make false statements or submit false documentation.

The Centre for Postgraduate Studies should be kept informed of any change in the information submitted, and reserves the right to reduce or withdraw any award should changed financial circumstances warrant such action (e.g. the award of funding not declared in this application).

Candidates who fail to complete the degreefor which they are registered in the stipulated time will be liable for a full repayment of the bursary.

RENEWALS

Master’sTenure for funding for the Master’s degree is TWO YEARS

Applications for renewal of any award for the second year will be considered only on submission of a supervisor’s report reflecting satisfactory progress. The report MUST give a detailed account of what progress has been made over the past year and MUST be signed by both the applicant and the supervisor.

DoctoralTenure for funding for the Doctoral degree is THREE YEARS

Applications for renewal for the second year will be considered only on submission of a supervisor’s report reflecting satisfactory progress. The report MUST give a detailed account of what progress has been made over the past year and MUST be signed by both the applicant and the supervisor. The same applies for renewals for the third year.
