Application for Youth Director for HRBA

Are you a youth between the ages of 14-18? Are you interested in becoming a part of our board? Are you willing to express thoughts, opinions, concerns, and suggestions about the youth in the HRBA?

If you would like to have a voice on the Havana Board and represent youth raising Havanas, your time has come. You will be able to voice concerns and participate in the discussions to help guide the future of your club. Want to find out more? Read the requirements listed below and write a simple essay about your experience as a Havana breeder.

Complete the application with required signatures and return toHRBA Secretary.

Postmark by: July 1stThe selection will be based on the essay. The cover sheet will be numbered to correspond with the application so the club board members rating the applications will not know the applicants’ names. The youth director selected will be notified by October 10th, to confirm appointment.

Eligibility requirements:

 Applicants must be between the ages of 14 to 18 years under ARBA rules.

 Applicants must be an active current youth member of both the ARBA and the Havana Rabbit Breeders Association.

 Applicants must have raised and actively shown Havanas for at least 3 years.

 Applicants must have parental permission to become an appointed youth director (see permission slip).

 Applicants agrees to try to attend the general meeting at ARBA Convention.

 Applicants agree to serve on the board for a term of 2 years.

Application:

Cover sheet: provide contact information to include applicant’s name, address, phone number and email.

Parental permission slip: packet must include signed parental permission slip.

Essay: Applicant to submit answers on a one page typed, double space

 Why do you raise and show Havanas?

 Briefly describe your involvement in local, state, or national rabbit clubs, include 4-H or FFA.

 Describe a few extracurricular activities and interests besides raising rabbits.

 If appointed, what are three personal characteristics you would bring to the board.

 List three goals you want to accomplish for the HRBA during the two-year term

Applicants will avoid the use of personal or parent names, or any reference that may provide the board clues as to who the applicant is to the questions above.

Selection: One youth director will be selected with a second chosen as an alternate.

Parental Permission Slip

I/We, ______, give ______permission to apply for the position of Havana youth director. We understand by giving permission we are insuring that our child will try to attend the annual general meeting each year. These meetings are held during the Spring Havana Nationals and ARBA Nationals.

Youth Agreement Slip

I, ______, understand that if I am selected as the appointed youth director, I will need to try to attend the general membership meeting along with submitting an article bi-monthly for the Havana newsletter. I understand that as a youth director my voice, opinion and concerns will be welcomed by all board members, but I will not have any voting privileges as an appointed member of the board.
