APPLICATION CRITERIA

Polson Higgswould like to offer accounting services to charitable organisations to the value of $40,000 p.aover two funding rounds and therefore invites applications for assistance from organisations in the Dunedin and Otago/Southland region.

Polson Higgs is part of the Otago/Southland community and wishes to support charitable organisations in the region.

Polson Higgs’ objective in offering assistance to charitable organisations is to make a quantifiable difference to the organisation, to assist the organisation achieve its objectives, and to demonstrate Polson Higgs commitment to the community.

The assistance offered is free or subsidised accounting or business advisory skills (see appendix for possible areas of assistance) up to an agreed value (based on normal market value rates).

APPLICATION FORMS

Applications for assistance must be made on a standard application form which can be obtained from Polson Higgs (see overleaf for contact details).

WHEN TO APPLY

Applications will be called for twice a yearin February/Julyeach year.

It is important that you check the deadline date for applications to be received. Late requests will not be accepted. Please refer to the application form for details of deadline dates.

Your organisation will receive a letter from Polson Higgs to confirm the application has been received.

Your organisation will then be assessed to make sure it meets the criteria. At this stage we may wish to ask further questions or request additional information from your organisation.

All applicant organisations will be advised whether or not their application has been successful.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

When considering applications, the number of persons served and the financial status of the applicant are taken into account. Applicants must supply financial accounts and complete the financial information in the application form.

Services provided by Polson Higgs must be used to achieve the specific objectives of the applicant as stated in the application form. Recipients will be asked to furnish reports requested by Polson Higgs.

Decisions made by Polson Higgs are final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into on any decision.

Services will not be awarded to individuals.

Polson Higgs reserves the right to publish the names of fund recipients and financial amounts involved.

WHO CAN APPLY?

The objective of the grant is to assist the charitable organisations or tax exempt organisationsin:

  • the relief of poverty
  • the advancement of education
  • the advancement of religion
  • the advancement of sport for the benefit of the wider community
  • or any other charitable purpose beneficial to the community

You will need to be registered with the Charities Commission and able to provide your registration number as proof that your organisation is registered or be able to provide proof of your tax exempt status.
