The content must be different, but complementary. You must come to class with completed authentic products which capture your understanding of the work and do not simply quote from the text. You will have to sell your products in your presentation. Study stickers, t-shirts, and posters which appeal to you to get this right. You will present your creations to the class.

2)  Artistic: Create a line of greeting cards which incorporate your favorite works of literature or pun on a literary term. Identify 5 different occasions and use 1-5 works to celebrate, comfort, or inspire. Again, these must be authentic and professional looking. Name your company, and sell your products in your presentation. Study successful cards to get this right. You will present your creations to the class.

3)  Artistic: Create a product or an invention inspired by a classic work of literature. Identify something in the actual work or something that the character would probably wish he/she had. Create the actual product and sell it in a print or commercial ad campaign of professional quality. Study successful campaigns to get this right. You will present your creation to the class.

4)  Performance: Choose at least three of your most challenging literary terms and write three different songs of at least 24 lines in three different genres which define and provide examples of the term. Each song must also include at least three different and highlighted poetry terms. Prepare a music video or perform live and provide lyrics for us so we may sing along and relive the term. Listen to examples of each genre carefully to get this right. You will present your creation to the class.

5)  Performance: Create a Public Service Announcement inspired by a conflict from a classic work. You should demonstrate that you understand the need for this service or warning in your particular work. The product must be authentic and filmed. Watch some PSAs to get this right. You will present your creation to the class.

6)  Performance: Chose a scene form a classic work in which a character in crisis could have used a confidant(e). Create and perform a script which rewrites the pivotal scene with an intervention from a character from another work. Think deus ex machina. How does this new arrival change the course of events through his/her experiences? Perform live or prerecord your scene. Must be in character and demonstrate that you understand the motivation behind these characters and the nature of conflict and transformations. Watch scenes from novel or play adaptations of your work to get this right.

7)  Performance: Create an original opera or a lip-synced opera of at least four different songs in which characters from the same work or characters from a variety of works interact with each other regarding a central conflict or pivotal moment. Perform live or pre-record the event, but you must be in character and provide compelling scenery. Must be authentic and thoughtful. Watch some excerpts from an opera to get this right. You will present your creation to the class.

8)  Written: Create an authentic Fodors- or Lonely Planet- style travel story, chapter, or booklet of 3-5 pages on a significant location from a classic work of literature. You may write the story from your perspective as a literary traveler or from the perspective of one of the characters in the work. Include places to stay, places to visit, what to eat, maps, visuals, tips, caveats, sensory experiences…Please study these beloved travelers’ companions to get this right.
