AP FRENCH – Summer 2016

  1. Reprise, A Review Workbook for Grammar, Communication and Culture – DO NOT WRITE IN THE BOOK

Complete the following activities, due the first day of school:

Chapter 1 – Read through the chapter if you need review for present tense verbs. Study all verbs in the grey boxes and learn their meanings. Complete the chapter test on page 15/printed copy.

Chapter 2 – Read through the chapter if you need review for irregular present tense verbs. Study all verbs in the grey boxes and learn their meanings. Complete the chapter test on page 36/printed copy.

  1. Write to me (in French) one time over the course of the summer. Your writing should be between 8-10 good sentences and can be about any topic. This writing is meant to be informal and can be sent via email or regular mail (postcards from vacation?), but it will eventually be graded – – Due no later than August 19th. (Send me an email for my address if you would like to send something by mail.)

  2. “Votre goût musical et… votre personnalité” Answer all of the questions in English. Answer SIX of the discussion questions in French with complete sentences.
  1. Read as much as possible in French over the summer. I strongly suggest you read something at least three times a week. You can read about any topic of your choosing, but READ!

Ideas(with reading and videos…listening practice!):

- A news magazine for kids with videos and articles. The comment sections are fun to read!

- A French magazine similar to people with celebrity gossip, etc.

- Elle magazine in French

- A French magazine similar to people with celebrity gossip, etc.

  2. – This is a website where you can listen to songs and fill in blank lines as you hear the lyrics. Set up a personal account and change the language to French to practice with French songs. It is kind of like a game!

  5. – Type French into the search engine and play games to test your French knowledge

  1. Watch at least two movies in French or with French subtitles. Netflix has many French movies available online. Repeat what they say sometimes to work on accent and intonation.

  2. Duolinguo – practice old vocabulary and conjugations
  3. 7 Petit Mots – a challenging app but even if you can get one word a day, that’s something!
  4. 4 image 1 mot – guess the word from four pictures
  5. Lingua.ly ($2.99) – read real articles and learn vocabulary
  6. Soupe à l’alphabet Lite – a word game
  7. French Tutor 24/7 – an interactive study tool
  8. Busuu – another language practice/learning app
  9. 7 Jours sur la planète – watch 3 actual news broadcasts per week to practice your listening and vocabulary skills
