ANGEL TREE PRISON MINISTRY

Angel Tree Prison Ministry is designed to minister to local children of parents that are currently incarcerated by providing two (2) Christmas gifts to their child(ren). This gives their child(ren) wrapped presents from their incarcerated parent to open on Christmas morning.

The incarcerated parent is given information in prison to participate in this program and the ability to choose gifts for their child. If the parent chooses to be a part, then the headquarters in Atlanta supplies the names of the children along with their ages and caregiver information to a county coordinator.

Angel Tree only allows 2 gifts: 1 toy ($20) and 1 clothing/shoe item ($20). In order to maintain consistency between children of the same family only $20 is allowed for each gift. One gift must be a toy/etc. type gift and the other must be a clothing type gift (coat, pj’s, shoes)

The process is then to contact the caregiver to find out exact clothing sizes and what is most needed for the individual child or what the parent has suggested. You, as a part of this ministry, then purchase the gifts, wrap and deliver the gifts to the home. The time of delivery is to be worked out between you and the caregiver. Of course, you would want to do this before Christmas Eve. The children get so excited to have wrapped presents from their parent.

The most important thing is to remember that the gifts are from their parent even though you have done the entire purchasing, etc. You are the angel delivering the gifts.

There are always a lot of children in our area that don’t receive gifts due to lack of participation from our communities. My prayer is that we can serve all of the children of incarcerated parents during this holiday season. You will receive the blessing!
