SPECIAL NIGHT EVENT

LIVE SHOW & DJ SET

Mauro Marsu & Antonio Kaino

They present “La Famiglia Rossi” storytelling journey with music and recital.

Mauro D’Arco, stage name “Mauro Marsu” (member of the band from Campania Resurrextion) and beatmaker from Salento Antonio “Kaino” Carofalo join forces for the project “La Famiglia Rossi” (The Rossi family)available from Monday 5 May on digital stores.

The concept of the work is quite bizarre: the 12 tracks – 5 songs and 7 recitals - tell the story of a family, the “La Famiglia Rossi”.

The narrative voice describes a day in the life of “Famiglia Rossi” from “5.30 am of any daybetween the end of winter and the beginning of spring… ”.

The tracks follow in the following order: the stories of Anna (mother), Mario (father), Luigi (little brother), Aldo (grandfather) and Sara (big sister).

Every song will be introduced by the narrative voice that will present the story of each character.

The refrains of the tracks “Anna” and “Sara” feature the singer Salvatore Di Palma.

The two artists define this work as a songwriting project, with the purpose of blending rap music with “fusionsand traitsof songwriting”, through a storytelling journey.

Likewise, the live show that accompanies the music is very peculiar, mixing theatre with songwriting.

The words by Mauro Marsu capture the everyday life of a ficticious family based on a mix of persons and characters that we all have come across and some autobiographic features.

This mix gives way to a “creative human collage” with very believable characters that all listeners can easily find familiar.

The productions of Antonio Kaino “beatSpreader” re-work samples from old music classics, especially Italian, from the ‘60s and ‘70s through a skillful use of the Akai sampler. These rithms are the ideal background for the day in the life of the Rossi Family, giving a musical context to every situation and highlighting the frame of mind of each character.

The project was recorded and mixed in Naples by the Dj Spider (Resurrextion), except for the refrain of track “Sara” recorded in Massa Lubrense (NA) at Marco Mariconda’s “Fade In” studio.

The cover drawing of “La Famiglia Rossi” is curated by Simona Simone, versatile artist from the Penisola Sorrentina (simonasimone.net).

The videoclip “Sara” featuring Salvatore Di Palma was the teaser for the project (posted online at the beginning of April with the link : directed by Claudio Celentano and post produced (color correction) by Luigi De Vita, and the track “Aldo”: 25 April.

The entire work is available on the Youtube channel for free at the following link :

Mauro D’Arco, stage name “Mauro Marsu”

Born in1982 in Castellammare di Stabia, (Naples). He was introduced to Rap music in 1995, when he literally found on the sidewalk a tape of Rap music. Ever since, he has been listening to the few productions available at the time. In 1996 at the age of 14, in a long lapse of ‘forced absence’ from school, he writes his first song called “Televisione”. Once he began writing verses and songs, with a group of friends he also tried to put them in music. Given the young age of the artists, the project failed. However, he will keep writing verses and devoted himself to theatre, his other big love. In 2001, urged by a friend, he picks up for the second time rap with two of his friends helping him with the music, a trio that was known as"Sesto Senso".

On 4 October 2002 together with Jen-One (promoter and co-founder of the band), and other friends, he founds the Resurrextion Crew (currently featuring also the breaker Keezy and Dj Spider).

The band is active ever since, boasting over 250 live exhibitions and the production of 3 records : Primo Lemma (self produced in 2004), “Sonano ‘e Vàsule EP” and “Elettro Sud” (bothpublished for Relief Records Europe in 2009 and 2011 respectively). The band currently is working on a new album that will be announced with a video release of the single “Ma che vuoi?” (featuring Ronnie King for the music).

Antonio “Kaino” Carotalo

Born in1982 in Triggiano (Bari), he grew up in Salento, a region where Hip Hop and Reggae are popular, where he gets acquainted and falls in love with black music. Those were the times of the first “Gusto Dopa Al Sole” and “Power FM”. He was instantly drawn to Hip Hop and set out to get to know it inside out. The production and the djing especially caught his interest. His first creation in the field was the production of Hip Hop ‘bases’ with electronic keyboard and PC using programmes suche as FT2 (Fasttrakker 2). He begins a real study of the scratch and musical selection, that will last many years.Musical production will become his main field of action and study, especially the American school from the Golden Age (the ‘90s). He eventually moved to activities and musical production underground, that resulted in the cultural project “Extralad”, that was presented to events, jam, discussions. Among his personal music projects feature “Zero Distance”, an album published for Extralad featuring other Italian beatmakers and mcs from abroad (among others, the Resurrextion, Marsu’s band, with the track “Mo dimme se…”).

It’s not easy to find Kaino’s work online, only a few remix on “soundcloud” and some unpolished beats, although they say that Kaino is affiliated to the “Wu Tang Family”…

La Kattiveria

La Kattiveria kicks-off in 2000 in Reggio Emilia from the rib of a few previous musical experiments, mainly from Kattiveria Posse, first hip-hop band in townknown for fusion exhibitions of music and theatre. In 2000 the band dramatically reshapes its line-up and artistic identity, focusing on an in-depth work on the style of writing, the practice of freestyle and intensive study of American rap.

In 2006 La Kattiveria, after a fruitful journey of discovery, produces the album “Dove vola l’avvoltoio”, 16 tracks that summarize the band’s artistic evolutionin terms of production and of writing and interpretation techniques. The contents, often inspired by literature and essays, are the most original feature on the Italian hip-hop scene. The objective of this artistic choice is not only to entertain but also to educate.

Currently La Kattiveria, made up by Murubutu, Il tenente, U.G.O., Yanez Muraca and Dj Caster, acts as a workshop studying the relationship existing between rap music and literature. Believing it to be a very fruitful enterprise, the members of the band explore different combinations of music with the written word: rap andfiction (Murubutu), rap andvernacular (Il tenente), rap andliterature in progress (U.G.O.).

Nic 2 Birilli

Nic 2 Birilli aka N2B begins as a guitar playerwho started with rap ('95 - '98) as MC and moved on to funk, mother of all rhythms.

His brother Alessandro tutors him through hours of black music, leaving him with a big luggage of experience and the concept that “music has to be taken seriously”.
