Ten little rabbits live in the woods. They live in ten little holes side by side. Their little holes are numbered one to ten. Guess what the rabbits like to eat? Carrots! So early in the morning they go to the farmer’s and steal all of his carrots. Little Red Riding Hood also wants some carrots for her grandmother. Unfortunately, all the carrots are gone by the time she arrives at the farmer’s. The rabbits do not want to give her any at all. When the ten little rabbits are happy that they have got so many beautiful carrots, they find that there are only nine rabbits. One rabbit is lost! They count twice but still there are nine. The good-hearted Little Red Riding Hood counts for them AND she counts ten. What is wrong? Why does the silly rabbit only count nine rabbits?
