System Narrative Template:

The setting consists of mountains, valleys, and high plateaus. Elevation ranges from 7600 to 11400 feet. Topography ranges from very steep in the mountains to gently sloping in the valleys. Average annual precipitation ranges from 17 to 25 inches and average annual temperature ranges from 40 below zero to 90 degrees F. Soils vary from shallow to deep. The potential natural vegetation varies from spruce-fir tree stands to juniper, oaks, and pines with the under story community consisting mainly of prairie junegrass, AZ fescue, drop seed, bluegrass and muhly species. These are primarily cow-calf operations with forest allotments. Income may be supplemented by hunting fees and the harvest of wood products.

The setting is hills and mountains with scattered to heavily timbered slopes 3 - 60%. Soils are mainly sandy loams gravely cobble stony loams, with poor to fair range condition. (Stable to slightly upward trend.) Precipitation is 14 to 20 inches annually. These are primarily cattle ranches with supplemental income from firewood timber sales and/or elk hunting. Ranches are patchwork land status with; BLM, State, private, and USFS.
