Alternative Scoring at Championships

From: Short Set, 6-game pro-set, or 8-game pro-set

To: Best of 2 or 3 tiebreak sets

The Championship tournament committee will determine when to use an alternate format due to weather challenges during a Southern Sectional Championship. The committee does not require a round to be completed prior to implementing alternate scoring.

Use the following conversion chart to convert a Short Set or Pro Set to either Best of 2 tie-break sets with a Match/Set Tie-break or Best of 3 Tie-break sets (same for both.)

The conversion will be used to enter converted match results into TennisLink, as the system will not accept two different formats in one event.

TennisLink does not currently accept Short Set format. If this format is used, it must be converted to determine team standings.

In the event of a tie in team standings, the converted matches will be used in calculating sets lost and games lost. The TL Champs standings will be the official tiebreaker.

If you are certain of converting the entire event to a different format and have not played a single match, contact the TennisLink Team for assistance in changing the format within TennisLink. This would involve rescheduling all matches.

Alternative Scoring at Championships

From: 2 out of 3 Short Sets To: Best of 2 or 3 tiebreak sets

For using two out of three short sets use this to convert each one. If split sets and Match Tiebreak just let third set be 1-0.

Example 5-4, 4-1 would be entered as 7-6,6-2

or 2-4, 5-4, 1-0 would be 3-6,7-6,1-0

Weather or other unforeseen circumstances may force the use of different scoring formats during a championship event.

Use the following conversion chart to convert a 10-game Pro Set to either Best of 2 tie-break sets with a Match/Set Tie-break or Best of 3 Tie-break sets (same for both.)

The conversion will be used to enter converted match results into TennisLink, as the system will not accept two different formats in one event.

In the event of a tie in team standings, the converted matches will be used in calculating sets lost and games lost. ( i.e. the TL Champs standings will be the official tiebreaker)
