Wheels & Tyres
All wheel weights must be removed. Wheel & Tyre sizes are free. Only budget tyres should be used. Strictly no competition type tyres of which includes M&S style and Yokohama’s.
Batteries can remain in their original position provided they are in the bulk head area. Otherwise it is recommended batteries are fitted inside the vehicle. All batteries must be securely fitted and be covered by rubber matt regardless of the position.
General rules
This formula is designed to be very low budget, anyone found mechanically cheating or otherwise will be removed from the group.
If it does not state you can do it! You CANNOT Race wear and helmets as per Segto rule book 2013 General conduct and race rules as per SAA rule book 2013
PASSENGER’S IN VEHICLES WILL BE REVIEWED BY THE COMMITTEE BASED ON SAFETY. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE IT AS GOSPEL PASSENGERS WILL BE ALLOWED.
The formula is a trial and SAA reserve the right to alter and change any of the rules as the season progresses.
SAA Street Rods Rules & Regulations 2013
Street rod formula is designed to encourage new drivers or retired drivers out onto our oval at a minimal build cost.
The formula is an (off the road formula) and no modifications are permitted.
The formula is strictly non-contact and normal racing rules apply as per SAA rule book. As this is a trial formula it is unknown at this time if points will be awarded. Points will only be awarded for the group itself and will not be competing for the Club’s overall championship. Trophies will be awarded in Finals as per other groups.
Vehicle presentation
This is not a Banger formula and therefore vehicles should be well presented. Vehicles should be painted and at very least should have the drivers name and Number painted on the vehicle. (See SAA rule book on Race number sizes). All vehicles must have a roof fin displaying race number (Also see SAA rule book on number sizes)
Vehicle Specification
Any RWD (Rear wheel Drive) Saloon, Coupe or hatchback vehicle is permitted. Engine size 2000cc upwards.
Build Specification
Vehicles must be completely stripped of all internal interior flammable items. The dash pad may remain in but preferably have its clocks and switches removed. Airbags Must Be Removed! It is strongly recommended that heater boxes are also removed and heater matrix pipes are joined up under the bonnet. Vehicles should retain their laminated windscreen; if vehicle does not have a laminated windscreen then it should be removed and replaced with mesh as per Hot rod rules. Please leave your wipers operational if Windscreens remains fitted. All other glass must be removed.
All vehicles must have a roll over hoop (H frame) as per Rookie bangers, Arco’s are NOT Permitted. A Door plate or bar must be fitted on the inside of Drivers door and be fixed from A post to B post with a minimum of 4 bolts and fitted at hip height when sat in the seat. This should also be fitted to the passenger side if carrying passengers. Both Driver and Passenger doors must operational and be able to open from the inside and out. Original fuel tank must be removed and a maximum of 2 gallon one fitted inside the vehicle and preferably in the confines of the H frame.
Competition type seats do not have to be used but all seats must be secured to the H frame at shoulder height. Ignitions may remain on the original key but it is recommended that the steering lock is removed or disabled.
The original radiator must be used and remain in its original place. (No water tanks). Bonnets can remain on original hinges but should have quick release type fasteners (Original bonnet catches should be removed)
Both front and rear bumpers must be retained, Addition fixing bolts on bumper is recommended. Headlamps must be removed if they are glass. If plastic headlamps and rear lamps are fitted then they can remain but must be taped to prevent shattering. Lights should also be disconnected from wiring loom. Horns must be removed.
