In celebrating Fo Guang Shan 40th Anniversary, Buddha’s Light International Association(BLIA) and International Buddhist Progress Society(IBPS)are organizing “The Beauty of Fo Guang Photo Contest.The purposeof this contest is to capturethe arts, architectures and history of Fo Guang Shan temples as well as the local cultures.

The rules of the contest are as follows:

1. Contest Topic: / 1. The Beauty of Fo Guang : Contestants may choose any Fo Guang Shan branch temples/IBPS as their subject. The themes may include the architectures, arts, and activities.
2. The Beauty of Texas : The arts, cultures, and buildings of the lone star state-Texas.

All photo enthusiasts (a maximum of three entries pertopic per person)
3. Specifications: / Please submit 8”x10” color photos with efiles burned into a CD in JPG format. Send both to the following address. Each entry needs a brief description of the image.
Note: Do not use frame, lamination, mounting, copying, photo manipulation or sequence shot.
4. Procedure: / A completed “Contest Registration Form” must be attached to the back of each photo before submission. Mark the envelope with “The Beauty of Fo Guang” in a visible corner.
5. Conditions: / Details are listed below. Please read carefully.
6. Selection: / Certificates and cash rewards will bepresented to the winners during the Buddha’s Birthday Celebration in May. All outstanding entries will be exhibited in the Art Corridor at IBPS–Dallas.
7. Deadline: / All entries including descriptions as requestedmust be sent to IBPS–Dallas, 3rd floor before April 1st, 2008.

2008 The Beauty of Fo Guang Photo Contest Rules

1.All entries, once submitted, will become the property of Fo Guang Shan, cannot be withdrawn, and will not be returned. Contestants with winning entries must send original negatives, if any, using appropriate packaging, to the designated location.

  1. All copyrights, if any, to the winning entries become the property of International Buddhist Progress Society – Dallas, which has the full right to exhibit them at any place in any format, and to authorize the use of these photographs by third parties. The above right is timeless and limitless and winners cannot withdraw their consent to the transfer of ownership of the property or to the authorization of use by third parties.
  2. Contestants with winning entries may, without objection from BLIA or Fo Guang Shan, duplicate their work and use or distribute it as they see fit, so long as such use does not in any way attempt to limit or interfere in any way with Fo Guang Shan’s ownership and use

of the photograph(s). The organizer agrees to credit all photographers, whenever the photographs are used, with their full names (if English is needed, Romanization of their Chinese names will be used).

  1. Each entry must be the work of the individual contestant who owns, if any exist, the complete copyrights. Should a third party contest the copyrights, and if proven justified by the organizing unit, the winner will be disqualified and any prize or awards which would have been received by the winner shall be returned to the organizing unit. Any legal implications from the violation of copyrights will be the sole responsibility of the contestant, and not the organizing unit.
  2. All contestants, upon entering this contest, hereby consent to all rules and requirements of the contest.
  3. Please send artwork and registration form to the organizing unit.
  4. All entries selected as “Outstanding” will be awarded a prize and a certificate of recognition.
