The Buckinghamshire Adult Learning Service not only delivers an enormous range of courses to adults countywide in their local centres, schools and community halls covering a breadth of subjects - they also plan and deliver bespoke short courses for outside organisations including care homes.

All of their tutors are specialists in their subject areas and in teaching.

Focusing around health, well-being and personal enrichment; sessions can be planned around the needs of your residents, your staff or both.

Sessions can be delivered in a wide range of topics:

·  Creative classes including drawing, painting, floristry, creative writing and many more.

·  Health and Fitness from gentle chair based yoga and exercise to meditation and complementary therapies.

·  Languages – sign language, lip reading and beginners languages in Spanish, Italian , French, German, Polish and Arabic

(The above topics are just but a few of many).

Maybe you would like to:

·  Hold a short course at your premises in Drawing and Painting for both residents and staff. After the sessions come to an end your activities team could continue to deliver the activity with the new skills that they have acquired.

·  Plan to hold wellbeing enrichment sessions for your staff to encourage team cohesion.

·  Hold well-being workshops – designed to bring your residents and staff together with a collective engagement activity.

Evidence shows that learning is beneficial to older people in maintaining their interest and mental ability and in improving their sense of wellbeing

Some of your residents may have been actively involved with hobbies in the past and would benefit from having the opportunity to continue to develop their skills.

Some residents who are complete beginners may wish to learn a new skill.
