Welcome to Term 3. Last term our students performed on the sporting fields with much success. This continues through this term but our focus now turns to the stage. Our students will be performing at the Cambridge Learning Community Performing Arts Festival next week and our dance groups will again be showcased at the Penrith Dance Festival at the Joan Sutherland Centre in Week 8. We had our rehearsals yesterday and it certainly looks like it will be a wonderful festival.

Education Week 2011

Education Week officially begins on Monday, 1st August and we have a jammed pack week of celebration and activity planned. We look forward to showing off all our wonderful students efforts at this year’s Open Day which is on Thursday, 4th August. The program of events are:

10.00am Open Classrooms

11.30am Walkathon

All day Art Show (Hall) and Book Fair (Library)

LUNCH Sausage Sizzle and drinks will be available

Walkathon

Our walkathon, which is our major fundraiser for the year, will take place next week, Thursday, 4th August. The children received their sponsor cards last term and hopefully have many sponsors.

The children are required to bring their sponsorship cards to their class teachers by Tuesday, 2nd August. These will be marked off at the Walkathon as they complete their laps and will be verified on Thursday for them to start collecting their money.

Major Prizes will be handed out to the ‘Highest Fundraiser’ and also to the winner of the lucky draw. For every $10 raised by a student they will get a ticket in the draw. A student can only win one prize.

Money is due by Tuesday 16th August. Winners will be announced at the K-6 Assembly on Wednesday, 17th August.

Kindergarten Enrolments

Enrolments for Kindergarten for 2012 are now being taken. The child needs to turn 5 by the 31st July, 2011 to be eligible to enrol.

Parents or caregivers need to fill out an enrolment form, available from the school’s office, and provide the original copy of their child’s birth certificate and immunisation report. Also required is proof of address within our school boundary.

Orientation Day is being organised for early November. Details for this day will be sent to families closer to the event.

If you have a neighbour or friend in the area whose child is eligible for enrolment please let them know of these arrangements or get them to ring the school.

School Uniforms

As mentioned in our last newsletter we were considering ABEL Schoolwear as a new supplier for our school uniforms. This was voted unanimously by our P and C meeting and we are currently waiting for the price list and samples to be delivered. We will send this home as soon as it arrives. All items are considerably cheaper and therefore we hope the standard of school uniforms improves to our usual high standards.
