Algebra 1: What you need to know

Supply List:

1. spiral-bound notebook that is 3-hole punched

2. three-ring binder (1½ to 2 inches wide)

3. at least 4 dividers (can be home-made)

4. pencil(s)

5. highlighter

6. colored pens/pencils OR one pen with 4 colors (for note-taking)

7. dry erase marker (any color, any width)

8. small protractor and ruler

9. graph paper, loose leaf or bound

10.  scientific calculator --- DO NOT BRING UNTIL CHAPTER 2 BEGINS

Grading Policy:

80% standards assessments; 20% homework completion and class participation

How to read the new Skyward screen:

§  Each standard has its own column that show the average for that skill

§  Next to the average column is a column that lists the quiz & test for that standard

o  Tests can be re-taken, BUT you get the SECOND score

o  If you score less than 75% on a standard, you must retake the test

§  Homework completion and participation are under “Life Skills”

§  Each assignment will be listed next to the Homework Completion summary column

o  Late homework is accepted… up to a point

§  Each in-class point-earning activity will be next to the “Participation” column

o  If you are absent, you can make up those in-class points through extra credit

Your First Extra-Credit Opportunity:

Bring in a box of Kleenex, a tub of Clorox-type wipes, and/or a dozen pre-sharpened pencils by Monday. Each item = 5 pts.
