Ah Shi! & Spongioform Knots

Now you See them, Now you Don't !

Admittedly, Chinese Acupuncture is a paraphysical system, often called a proto-science. Equally, when it comes to the scientific 'neutrino', in particle physics labs, at the moment they appear, they then instantly disappear, like a UFO. In the standard model of particle physics, there are three types (or 'flavours') of neutrinos — called electrons, muons, and tau neutrinos — all with zero mass, you can't weigh them. Bilenky and Pontecorvo pointed out that if neutrinos did have mass, quantum mechanics would allow the electron neutrinos emitted in the core of the Sun to change into one of the other types of neutrino, and thereby evade detection by the Davis experiment (which was sensitive only to electron neutrinos). They called this phenomenon neutrino oscillations. Neutrinos — fundamental particles similar to electrons, but much lighter and with no electric charge — interact only weakly with normal matter and can penetrate a star with negligible attenuation.

Acupuncture points can be viewed in a similar manner. Just because they appear on an anatomical chart or in a textbook, does not mean they always exist. In other words, acupuncture points appear into the physical world, only when they become 'active'. And that activity translates into the reaction in Korean called 'ah shi', they become tender to palpation. Thus, they are 'inflammatory.'

The topographical, acupuncture points are surface projections of internal irritations, short and simple. Internal irritations from the organs are transmitted to the spine by the sensory and sympathetic nerves and distributed to the sensory nerves, motor nerves (trigger points), and dermatomes of the skin. Persistent irritation coalesces toxins and acids around the nerve endings and become painful when palpated. They manifest thusly as:

1. Tophi

a deposit of crystalline uric acid and other acid substance at the surface of joints, imbedded into the fasica (the body's garbage bin), or in skin or cartilage, typically as a gross feature of gout, 'crunchy' deposits in the fascia of the feet, or as small granules in the fasica like sand. A tophus proper (Latin: "stone", plural tophi) is a deposit of uric acid crystals, in the form of monosodium urate crystals, in people with long standing hyperuricemia (high levels of uric acid in the blood). Tophi are pathognomonic for the disease gout. Most people with tophi have had previous attacks of acute, gouty arthritis. Without treatment, tophi may develop on average of about ten years after the onset of gout, although their first appearance can range from three to forty-two years, can remain dormant, and the patient never having an acute attack.

Calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPPD) crystal deposition disease, also known as pseudogout and pyrophosphate arthropathy is a rheumatologic disorder with varied symptoms and signs arising from the accumulation of crystals of calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate in the connective tissues and fasica. The alternative names emphasize particular aspects of the clinical or radiographic findings. The knee joint is the most commonly affected but can also be found in the feet (foot reflexology), scalp (needle therapy), ear (auricular acupuncture), hand (sojuk Korean acupuncture) and nose (rhinopuncture).

Calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate crystals are associated with a range of clinical syndromes, which have been given various names, based upon which clinical symptoms or radiographic findings are most prominent. pseudogout refers to the acute symptoms of joint inflammation or synovitis: red, tender, and swollen joints that may resemble gouty arthritis (a similar condition in which monosodium urate crystals are deposited within the joints). Chondrocalcinosis, on the other hand, refers to the radiographic evidence of calcification in hyaline and/or fibrocartilage. "Osteoarthritis (OA) with CPPD" reflects a situation where osteoarthritis features are the most apparent. Pyrophosphate arthropathy is a term that can refer to several of these situations. The disorder is more common in older adults. It may be asymptomatic, or it can be associated with osteoarthritis, or it can present as an acute or chronic inflammatory arthritis that causes pain in one or more joint.

Other biologic acids play some role, as in lactic, pyruvic, phosphoric, sulfuric acids, etc. and are conjoined and crystalized by bonding principally to calcium ions, magnesium, etc. They are attracted to fascia where the body cordons off the offending properties, neutralizing them. Little research has been done in these areas. We know other toxins are involved as thermotherapy and even balneotherapy generally brings out offensive body odors of numerous toxins, and as well as toxic metals, etc.

Acupressure Has to Hurt to Work

Something we learn early on in acupuncture, we palpate the point to locate the "ouch" point, to confirm location and action, and then needle or massage accordingly. Thus, palpation that generates "exquisite" tenderness at specific points indicates the point is "active" and that internal irritation is present. The worse it hurts, the better it works relieving pain by counter-irritation!

Palpation Diagnosis

There are three primary reflexes that are almost never now used, and this is a pity:

1. The Patellar Reflex:The patellar reflex, as simple as it appears, should not be ignored in the routine medical/physical exam as it acts like a screening for a number of possible and developing conditions like diabetes, nutritional deficiencies as in metabolic syndrome X, heavy metal toxicity; as well as a test that inspires patient confidence in the overall doctor/office efficiency.

2. The Achilles Reflex:

Diminished or absent reflex is a cardinal sign of hypothyroidism, also in autoimmune diseases, diabetic neuropathy, sciatica in the late stages, chronic alcoholism, Vitamins B & E deficiency.

3. The Triceps Reflex:

An absence of reflex can be an indicator of several medical conditions: Myopathy, neuropathy, spondylosis, sensory nerve disease, neuritis, potential lower motor neuron lesion, or poliomyelitis. Other medical problems that may cause irregular reflexes include Hyperthyroidism.

However, this acu-point is also called the“Serene tranquility point”. God's supply house. All elements stem from and are contained here. Most neglected point in whole body - a magnificent point! It keeps stability of mind, gives peace and serenity to sick patients.

Absence of reflex here is an unhappy patient!

An 'ouch' point summons a reflex, and is truly a reflex of an internal irritation. Not only are they therapeutic, they are also diagnostic.

Ah Shi! & Spongioform Knots

Examples:

How often can we attribute food allergies and intolerances to the patient's problems, addictions, compromizations, and even etiolgies?

Ans. 100%

? How do we diagnose such?

Ans. not easily, but more often expensively and time consuming?

Knock Knock: you haven't been paying attention!

Dr. Weihe brought us the homeopathic palpation points. Turns out, we have so many of these provings, we now have the 'ouch' points that are generated by the constant eating of tomatoes, potatoes, leavened bread, strawberries, cashews, coffee, dairy, soya, etc. YES!

A simple roll and rub, and by asking the simple question: do you eat this every day? When the palpation point exhibits exquisite tenderness, we can generally assume the source of irritation (until proven otherwise, one of my favorite sayings, next to 'unremarkable').

There are several 'hot spots' for dairy, 'dairy queen' my favorite! A little squeeze, cut out the cheese...

How about this one - MALARIA?

Yes, this can be an elusive diagnosis out in the field. Generally, you medicate when signs and symptoms agree (until proven otherwise).

The little buggers only come out in the blood during the tidal fever, in which case you bleed, smear, mount, and gander through the microscope.

However, we have some handy points contributed by our Chinese breatheren, acupuncture points, specific for nothing else.

YES! With a reflex hammer, acu-pen tsubo torch, stethescope and spgyg, a clear cup for urine, drop me in the jungle and I can make due as a monastic doctor! You can too!

It's all in the touch!

Upon thirty years of careful examination, study, and clinical applications, I can attest that many obscure acupuncture points, trigger points, neurolymphatic reflexes, 'ouch' points, etc. (they have many names), have never been viewed as a primary core of palpation diagnosis. Especially in this 21st century, where many doctors of medicine do not even touch patients anymore!

Doctor, have you ever heard?

Obesity can be assisted by palpation and lymphatic drainage using contact points?

Throughout history, people in different societies have used various methods of stimulation as therapeutic tools to influence function of the lymphatic system. Now, palpation technique emerged as another system of health care to develop specific techniques related to weight loss via treatment of thoracic duct.

These contact points you can check yourself with your thumbs on both hips at same time. Hold those contacts that are painful and you will feel it through your intestines, sometimes so badly for gladly you will want to vomit.

Throughout history, people in different societies have used various methods of stimulation as therapeutic tools to influence function of the lymphatic system. Now, palpation technique emerged as another system of health care to develop specific techniques related to weight loss via treatment of thoracic duct.

The thoracic duct is the common trunk of all the lymphatic vessels of the body. Through stimulation at the area of solar plexus it is possible to not only influence velocity of the food tube but also the lymphatic fluid to vena cava and ultimately to the heart. Increased fluid flow to the heart causes myocardium to contract better and in turn improve circulation. With the improvement of circulation body cells not only get more effectively oxygenated but also detoxified from metabolic waste and excess fat.

The realistic goal.

Acupuncture, acupressure, and Jade Lymphatic Drainage technic with thyroid supplementation and elimination of food intolerances/allergies yields initial weight loss of about 10% during the first month of treatment. The second month weight loss effect continues mildly and by the third month additional weight reduction and overall improvement in health and in weight takes place without drastic measures, pleasing to the patient. Once increased metabolic rate gets well established , it is very unlikely for it to regress within the next few years if thyroid status and elimination of undesireable and intolerant foods continue, especially those nasty gluten and dairy products. This weight loss program doesn’t require any special diet or exercise because the usual cravings get naturally inhibited and elevated energy levels will provide enough stimulus to start or resume some sort of natural and normal activities.

Ascariasis is a disease caused by the parasitic roundworm Ascarislumbricoides. Infections have no symptoms in more than 85% of cases, and 1.2 billion people globally carry these worms in their belly!

Ascariasis is classified as a neglected tropical disease. You can diagnose it with a simple touch...

there are more than 10 confirmation points for WORMS!

Worms do make you squirm...

The Chinese doctors called this point Heavenly Stream, but the limited (linear) Western mind failed to understand this almost never used acupuncture point as I call it:

*Palpation Test Point for Masterly contact to the entire Reproductive System of man and woman, including the Breasts and Thyroid Gland.

If we survey the disorders associated with dysfunction of the these glands, estrogen dominance and hypothyroidism, and since the reproductive organs affect the emotional system of the mind, one can visualize many, many conditions that can be helped with this knowledge.

SCM or Notorious Sartorius

Trigger point therapists laud the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscle as having more 'trigger' points than any other muscle in the body? I beg to differ. There are three sites that host the most exquisitely tender if not excruciatingly painful fascial sites known to man:

1. the Sartorius muscle,

2. The tensor fascia lata, and

3. theperiosteum of the shin bone (shinbone sceamer site).

The diagnostic profile of spots along these tracts are most revealing (and most painful).

There are more than 200 of these points. We are planning for a 4 day workshop on Nevis summer 2017 where we will review all these points with diagnostic workshops. Express your interest today...

WHEN THE DIAGNOSIS IS ALSO THE TREATMENT!

by Prof. Charles McWilliams

PanAmerican School of Monastic (Natural) Medicine

Nevis Island

In today's busy world, office efficiency means everything. A simple procedure that not only confers a diagnosis but also translates into resolution becomes a top order priority in patient evaluation, not to mention it provides instant relief for the sufferer and makes the doctor appear as aknight in shining armor.

I can think of any medley of these golden nuggets, but here are a few:

1. Backache: lumbago, sciatica, or spinal stenosis?

The main symptom of lumbago is pain in the lower back or lumbar region of the spine. This is usually associated with aching, muscle tension and stiffness in the lower back which may be severe enough to interrupt normal everyday activities and movement. Sometimes, this pain may be described as a back strain.

A common presentation is the chronic back. Lumbago is another term for lower back pain, a condition experienced by up to 80% of people in the industrialised Western world at some point in their lives. Just as with any problem leading to back pain, the cause of lumbago is not always obvious or easy to identify, even after medical investigations or tests.
