Reproduction of objects in the Museum is subject to the following conditions:

  1. The Museum may refuse visitors permission to reproduce objects because of copyright regulations and handling restrictions or, because objects are on loan to the Museum and therefore bound by loan contracts with third parties.
  1. Photographs are not to be used for any publication (including web sites) or commercial reproduction.
  1. Only hand-held equipment may be used. No tripods, separate lighting equipment, screens, fixed camera tables, etc are allowed. No flash photography is permitted if it is deemed by the curators to be a risk to the objects.
  1. Use of video cameras is not permitted in the stores.
  1. Direct supervision of photography in stores and in galleries must be maintained at all times by Museum staff.
  1. Visitors must follow the instructions given by the member of staff in attendance, when handling objects.
  1. Any restrictions, which may apply to the physical access to objects as advised by the member of staff in attendance, are to be complied with.
  1. Objects cannot be moved or removed from their cases, frames, mounts or stands solely for the purpose of photography.
  1. Vertical access photography is allowed only for mounted and/or framed watercolours and drawings. Large format loose sheets may only be photographed on a horizontal plane.
  1. No feature or shot, which may identify the name or location of the reserve collection stores, will be permitted under any circumstances.
  1. Any interference with the public or their right of way either within the Museum or its grounds is prohibited.
