AGGRESSIVE DOG POLICY

The Upper Ohio Valley Obedience Training Club classifies an aggressive dog as one who makes or attempts to make an aggressive contact with any person or animal while on UOVOTC property, or at an UOVOTC sponsored event, or any organized dog-related event. The aggressive contact or attempt could be potentially harmful to persons or pets.
Any person who believes he/she has witnessed or experienced an act of aggression may fill out a written report and submit it to a UOVOTC Board member, Training Committee member, or class instructor. It is the responsibility of the person receiving the report to submit it to the Board of Directors.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
The Aggressive Dog Policy will be posted in the Club building and a copy will be included with each class roster.

  1. Any dog that exhibits an overt act of aggression (as defined in Paragraph 1 above) is to be excused immediately and taken from the premises. The Instructor will request the owner/handler to remain to discuss the incident, review Club policies, and determine options for further classes.
  2. Any person who believes he/she has witnessed or experienced an act of aggression (as defined in Paragraph 1 above) may fill out a written report and submit it to a UOVOTC Board member, Training Committee member, or class instructor. It is the responsibility of the person receiving the report to submit it to a member of the Board of Directors.
  3. The instructor always has the right to request a handler to remove a dog from class. The instructor will be responsible for filling out a written report and following the same procedure as listed in Item 2 above.

REVIEW PROCESS
The owner/handler may submit a request in writing to the Board of Directors for a formal review in six (6) months following any change in the dog’s circumstances which renders the dog no longer aggressive.
The Board will accept written requests for review after 6 months and will act upon such requests in writing within 30 days of receipt.
AGGRESSIVE DOG REPORT FORM
Copies of the form are available from class instructors and in the Club building. Any person who wishes to complete an Aggressive Dog Report is free to take as many of these blanks as she/he may require.
