Agfa Graphics Introduces New High-Throughput Violet CtP Print Engine.

:Avalon LF XT+ Offers Reliability, Flexibility—and Cost Efficiency.

Chicago, IL (GRAPH EXPO, Booth #3839) — September 9, 2007 — Agfa Graphics announced today the addition of the:Avalon LF XT+ to its advanced line of violet CtP print engines. Designed to increase the quality, flexibility and reliability of violet CtP imaging, the new :Avalon LF XT+ will appeal to those who may have limited budgets for capital improvements through its modest pricing structure. It is now commercially available for purchase.

:Avalon LF XT+, which uses Agfa’s Lithostar digital printing plates to deliver 40 B1-size plates per hour, is available in both manual and fully automatic loading versions, giving prepress and print professionals increased flexibility in their equipment choices for CtP. In addition, the :Avalon :LF Violet family is compatible with Agfa’s violet chemistry-free plate which will be released in 2008.

The :Avalon LF platesetter family is the most versatile CtP solution on the market with engines available for violet, thermal and chemistry-free digital plates. Its imaging heads can easily be switched between thermal and violet with a simple field retrofit. The high volume violet :Avalon LF XT+ is priced at a level similar to lower-throughput thermal machines, which will further appeal to companies that do not want to compromise on throughput

“Agfa has taken the experiences of its customers from around the world and used that knowledge to make tremendous advances in imaging technologyas part of our effort to deliver the most efficient print engines to the marketplace,” said Agfa’s Michael Davis, marketing manager, computer-to-plate solutions, North America. “With the :AvalonLF XT+, users can deliver more projects in less time for a limited investment thanks to the use of using proven violet lasers.”

Agfa’s violet technology uses a unique imaging system that provides the high image contrast needed for high-speed visible plates.
