Course Outline:

*All tests will be given in class

I. TESTS:

One Intro – Ch. 3 Fifty Questions

Two Chapters 4-5 Fifty Questions

Three Chapters 7 and 15 Fifty Questions

II. After these three tests the class will be divided into ten pairs. Each pair will be assigned a portion of the book and then prepare a PowerPoint Presentation that will include a minimum of ten slides that will be used as part of the teaching assignment as they teach the class. Appropriate teaching attire will be required. Three teaching pairs will present each class period and could receive a total of 20 points per individual.

III. There will be four out-of-class assignments worth an additional 12 points total.

IV. A research paper will be your final assignment and will be due at the end of the semester. Your topic for the research paper will come from a topic you are interested in and that Brother Lamph approves. The research paper will be worth 20 points.

V. The Research Paper must meet the following requirements.

A. A topic chosen by you that is relative to the class

B. There must be a Title Page.

C. The paper itself must be at least four double-spaced pages.

D. It must be written in your own words. This is a critical point.

E. If you quote a source keep it pithy.

F. You must include a bibliography page with a minimum of five different references. Be sure to include cite and page where appropriate.

G. You may use the book as an additional resource, but not as one of the five required references.

H. All sources must be reputable and scientific.


VI. There will be 199 points available: Grading for the Semester:

Three tests - 50 points each = 150 180 = A-

Research paper = 20 160 = B-

Teaching assignment = 20 140 = C-

Three out-of-class assignments = 9 120 = D-
