“All you need is love.”

~ John Lennon

Dear Families,

Mr. John Lennon put it so simply. One of the most powerful words in our language is love. In practice,it can be simplistic if we define and categorize love. “Love is good, love is kind, love means never having to say you’re sorry…”(~Erich Segal). Let’s focus on kind. “Because kind matters”;being kind means taking care of one another. Being loving is being kind.

Can we be loving and kind? YES,WE CAN! We already are! Everywhere, often, and with sincerity. We see doors held open, students helping students organize and carry materials, taking care of materials, cafeteria cleaning, rules followed for safety, smiling at a stranger, contributing to the community, and much more. We hear, “Are you ok?”, “Can I help you?”, “I’m sorry”, “Nice job!”, “You can do it!”, and more.

So this month we continue to, “Give peace a chance,” (~John Lennon) by being kind. Let’s let love conquer all.

UPCOMING EVENTS

  • The Winter Festival will be held on Friday, February 9. The no-show snow “rain date” is Thursday, February 15, with indoor activities planned if we do not have snow. Events for grades 3-6 will take place in the morning with K-2 events in the afternoon. Family members are welcome to attend and watch or assist with events. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately.
  • The PTO’s Sweetheart Dance (father/daughter dance) will be held on Friday, February 9, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the elementary cafeteria. The cost is $7.00 per couple (plus $2.00 for each additional child). The ticket form and payment was due by today. If you have not sent in your form and payment, you may still participate; however, please add an additional $2.00 per ticket. This traditional event is for all elementary girls and their adult male dates. Events include dancing (a DJ will provide music), a carnation for the girls, cookies, juice, and a picture of the couple. Don’t forget to wear your red, pink, and purple! Please contact the office if you need further information.
  • If your child is bringing in Valentine’s cards, they must have one for every student in their class. A class list is included in this week’s Friday folder.
