After-5 Business Mixer Guidelines & Form

Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce After-5 Business Mixers are held on a monthly basis and provide an opportunity for members to make connections with one another. Members of the Galveston Regional Chamber voluntarily host these events. Hosting an After-5 Business Mixer is ideal for businesses that have a good entertaining space and can cater to large crowds, such as hotels and restaurants. It allows these types of businesses to showcase their property to the membership as a potential event venue while providing a comfortable and exciting mixer experience for other attending Chamber members. Please note the following suggestions and guidelines when considering hosting a Galveston Regional Chamber After-5 Business Mixer.

  • Refreshments are highly recommended. Most businesses provide an array of hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Should you choose to serve beer, wine or alcohol at your mixer, please be aware that you must adhere to the Code and Rules of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. Alcoholic beverages should ALWAYS be served by a licensed bartender. For more information please visit
  • The host should provide one small table for check-in, nametags, Chamber publications, etc.
  • It is suggested that the host provide a door prize(s) to be given away. We will bring a bowl to collect business cards for the drawing, and the hosting business may keep the business cards after the event.
  • Several factors can affect the attendance of an After-5 Business Mixer including weather, conflicting events and location. On average attendance ranges between 50 and 75 people. The Chamber will accept RSVPs to help with planning, and will provide updates to the host upon request.
  • Once you have decided that you would like to host an After-5 Business Mixer, contact the Galveston Regional Chamber to secure a date on the Chamber’s calendar. After-5 Business Mixers begin at 5:00 p.m. and conclude at 6:30 p.m. They typically occur on Thursdays.
  • The Chamber will promote the mixer to the Chamber membership via email invitations, the calendar on Facebook, Twitter and in the Advocate, the official online newsletter of the Galveston Chamber.
  • After-5 Business Mixers are a benefit of Chamber membership, and they are intended to be for members only. They are also an opportunity for businesses currently considering membership to experience a Chamber event.However, if you would like for your After-5 Business Mixer to be open to the public, please contact the Galveston Chamber with this request.
