Ms. Stephanie G. Gibbs is a Clinical Supervisor with re:solve Crisis Network–a collaboration between Allegheny County and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Services offered include telephone, mobile,
walk-in, residential, and substance abuse. Prior to this position, Ms. Gibbs served the crisis and mental health communities in hospital, forensic, and education settings, as well as with the U.S. Army Chemical Corps. In addition to her current position, Ms. Gibbs also serves as a volunteer with the Pittsburgh Critical Incident Stress Management Team, Region 13 Medical Reserve Corps, and her local Disaster Crisis Outreach Referral Team.

Ms. Gibbs holds associates degrees in nursing and biology from the Community College of Allegheny County; a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida; and a master’s degree in marriage and family counseling from Stetson University. She is currently working toward her Ph.D. in Public Policy with emphases in Homeland Security and terrorism, Mediation, and Peace at Walden University.

Ms. Gibbs is interested in the effects of trauma on all first responders; various methods of addressing trauma including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Critical Incident Stress Management approaches; and the results of the long-term effects of exposure to first-hand and vicarious trauma on first responders, particularly with military personnel. Her goals for the conference include meeting and networking with other students, as well as professionals working in the field of emergency management
