Country clubs join Quality Club program

Community clubs across Victoria are putting good governance first according to the latest Swisse Quality Club figures.

The Swisse AFL Quality Club Program ensures that all accredited community clubs are achieving an optimum standard of club administration to grow participation and increase funding opportunities.

The program provides three levels of accreditation, gold, silver and bronze which enable clubs to achieve a minimum standard of club administration and governance, while recognising and rewarding clubs for achieving higher standards of excellence and success.

In 2014, the number of accredited clubs grew by a whopping 80 per cent.

Of the more than 115 clubs who were accredited, 33 walked away with a brand new ipad and AFL Live Subscription thanks to Swisse, simply for putting their own policies and procedures through the Quality Club test.

The support of country clubs were behind the significant increase, a sign that good governance in rural and regional Victoria is becoming a priority.

Dorothy Hisgrove, GM for People, Community and Culture at the AFL, said raising the standard of grassroots clubs was imperative to the continued growth of community clubs around the country.

“Community based clubs are the cornerstone of Australian Football and strong clubs at the grassroots level means a strong game across the board.

“Grassroots football is in excellent health but there is always more that can be done to create welcoming, safe and secure environments for members of the community.

“The Swisse AFL Quality Club program raises the standard across a range key areas which is good for the game and good for the community.”

Send us your coaching vacancies

They are arguably the most important person at your club but finding a good one can sometimes feel impossible.

AFL Victoria is hoping to help local clubs attract quality people to their club ahead of the 2015 season with a dedicated page on advertising vacancies.

Send your ads to david.o’ in a document and please attach a club logo if possible.

The page will be updated regularly over the off-season and hopefully provide prospective coaches a one-stop shop to check out vacancies in their local area.
