AED Leadership Positions

Elected Officers
Elections will be held on March 18, 2014. You must be an active AED National Member to run for a position. You must be a current or past elected officer in order to run for President. Only active national members are allowed to vote in the election.
President
· Mentor the elected officers, and determine that they perform their duties satisfactorily
· Initiate and develop chapter programs and activities
· Appoint committees
· Meet with Executive Board for chapter business (such as national member selection, revision of Chapter Bylaws, etc.)
· Participate in Initiation Ceremony
Vice President
· Running meetings when President is absent
· Being the individual to whom the President may delegate tasks, special projects, etc.
· Mentor the appointed officers, and determine that they perform their duties satisfactorily
· Meet with Executive Board for chapter business (such as national member selection, revision of Chapter Bylaws, etc.)
· Participate in Initiation Ceremony
Secretary
· Maintain official minutes
· Responsible for all records of membership, including attendance
· Send thank you letters to speakers
· Responsible for ordering dinner before each meeting
· Meet with Executive Board for chapter business (such as national member selection, revision of Chapter Bylaws, etc.)
· Participate in Initiation Ceremony
Treasurer
· Maintain accurate account of all chapter financial transactions
· Go through all membership forms and relay information to other officers
· Sign checks, make chapter bank deposits
· Meet with Executive Board for chapter business (such as national member selection, revision of Chapter Bylaws, etc.)
· Participate in Initiation Ceremony
Historian
· Develop and maintain the AED website, including calendar, photos, announcements, etc.
· Coordinate information from affiliate organizations for website
· Primarily responsible for T-Shirt distribution
· Meet with Executive Board for chapter business (such as national member selection, revision of Chapter Bylaws, etc.)
· Participate in Initiation Ceremony
Scalpel Reporter
· Prepare report for “Chapter Pride Roll” section of The Scalpel, detailing everything interesting going on with our chapter
· Distribute issues of The Scalpel to members
· Assist Historian and Treasurer with handling forms and T-Shirts
· Meet with Executive Board for chapter business (such as national member selection, revision of Chapter Bylaws, etc.)
· Participate in Initiation Ceremony

Appointed positions are chosen by the newly elected president. You need to be an active AED associate or national member in order to complete an application.
Pre-Representatives
· Answer any questions of members within your concentration
· Host two external events per year—can be volunteering, special interest meetings, meeting at professional’s practice after hours, professional school open house visits, etc.
· Assist with other AED duties as they arise
Volunteer Coordinators
· Organize all AED Volunteering, providing the only source for national membership points
· Maintain records of member volunteering
· Work with COSAM Outreach and other service organizations, as well as creating new opportunities
· Work with Pre-Reps on awarding volunteer points for their events
· Assist with other AED duties as they arise
Publicity Coordinators
· Promote the chapter through email, flyers, posters, and any other outlets available
· Raise awareness for each meeting specifically
· Assist with other AED duties as they arise
